Oct 22, 2017 Probably not top 10 simply because there are so many essential rap artists that deserve to be in the top 10, i’d feel weird leaving them out. He’d probably be in my top 30-25 though.
Oct 22, 2017 I mean he’s one of the best rap artists out today. He helped put “trap music” on the map & influenced a generation of hip-hop artists today. His discography is thoroughly inpressive. It’s not that far fetched that people are considering him top 20. His mark on the genre really can’t be ignored.
Oct 22, 2017 Oh my god you are still salty looooooool Please tell us what the savior of mumble rap thinks what a more accurate way of describing mumble rap is.
Oct 22, 2017 Trap was already on the map before Future and his impact is kinda exaggerated. It wasn't until 2015 did people start checking for him. I don't think he influenced a generation of rappers like that. More people are influenced by Migos, Boosie, Gucci, and Jeezy. He doesn't have a classic album yet. Mixtape? Sure but albums are more important. He's pretty inconsistent too. Idk how some1 can put him top 20 tbh. Top 50? Agreed. 30? Maybe. I wouldn't argue with that. But 20? Nah
Oct 22, 2017 I never said he by himself put trap music on the map, I said he helped put it on the map. Future, Gucci, TI, Young Jeezy etc. all put it on the map. They made it what it is today. There would be no Migos if it wasn’t for them. Future had songs topping the billboards as far back as 2011. “Magic” & “Turn On the Lights” which came out in 2011 both went gold & platinum. What do you mean people only started checking him in 2015? Pluto/DS2/HNDRXX I think are all great/arguably classic projects. I also don’t understand why you think albums are more important than mixtapes. Both are apart of the artist’s body of work. Doesn’t make sense for one to be more important than the other. Also, if you’re a maybe on him being top 30, it shouldn’t be THAT far fetched to see people put him top 20.
Oct 22, 2017 Good flow and solid Bars. His voice isn't hard to understand after hearing a few of his mixtapes. This is kinda true but not entirely. His flow and voice is mostly repetitive and on top of that some of his mix-tapes have repetitive beat selections. But it's not like every future song sounds like every other future song.
Oct 22, 2017 True There's a difference between "consistently great" and "thoroughly impressive". The average Future project might be better than the average Drake project but Future has nothing on more life. And drake's not even someone anyone considers a top 10 rapper. Much less being able to even touch Kendrick's or Kanye's best projects. And that's just rappers from this generation.
