Nov 10, 2017 Gonna go with a 5 *introspecive track about recent criticisms of his music* *still does the exact s--- he's been criticized for* *-he track itself is performed without any care for a beat or rhythm -also literal copy paste pop singer hook job and corny cheap 'verse lead into' format
Nov 10, 2017 When I saw Beyonce on it I was like: "f---ing really?! God d--- it!" After the first full listen - not what I expected it to be. And I also think this forum and many others have broken this man. Sounds sort of depressed.
Nov 10, 2017 The lyrics were cool, where he's talking about very real and recent critism explicitly But it's not good lol. His flow and overall approach to lyrics is not much different than his Trump freestyle, which everyone was crying "his actual music won't be like that! It's just a freestyle". Nope you were wrong
Nov 10, 2017 Thoughts: I was disappointed at first, because I was very excited after I heard Revenge and thought he did quite a good job at recapturing the essence of his old sound and flow. Thought that would be what we would be getting out of a single. Then I listened. My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady, Without Me, Just Lose It, We Made You, Berzerk…….Walk On Water? Just doesn't work as a "first single". I would have liked this song more on the first listen if I was going through the whole album, felt super nostalgic and sad that it could be one of his last albums, and then I get to the 2nd to last song and it’s Walk On Water. It just makes no sense as a single. After another listen, I think I let my own expectations ruin my first listen. It’s a great song, but a terrible single. Truly not sure why he released this first. A standalone Eminem solo single can be just as attention-grabbing as one with Beyonce. He doesn't need her for marketing. Just weird. I like it, just wish it wasn't the first release. The last 6 seconds had me more excited than the rest of the song...
Nov 10, 2017 Yeah it is really depressing and makes for a riveting listen lyrically tbh, but the fact is he had just lost it (talking about artistry), this just proves it even further-- even when he's doing all he can to directly respond to critism his lack of artistry shows its head somehow. It's just what he is now.
Nov 10, 2017 Guess you're a fan of copy paste hook formula and tryhard spoken word flow poetry without a beat
Nov 10, 2017 Gonna go with 9 and well for the exact same reasons as said above.... *introspecive track about recent criticisms of his music* (yup, great!) *still does the exact s--- he's been criticized for* (An artist doing what he wants, not what ppl demand great!) *the track itself is performed without any care for a beat or rhythm (well okay, this part is just not true but the point is it's not a straight line, and this fits the piano and song feel) This sets the bar high for the album for me. Obviously we'll get no more acapellas - as it should be - but man this is a great great track to set the stage. Kinda get the Not Afraid feel for Recovery. I get how this will not be what some people wanted as an opener, but this fits his and my age I guess. I was pleasantly surprised.
Nov 10, 2017 Only listened twice but it's surprisingly not bad. It's def not a first single. I would bet that it's the intro to the album.
Nov 10, 2017 It's hypocritical how you always accuse people here in EmSXN that they are intolerant of views other than their owns' but here you are. As for me, it's been way too long I've heard him being this honest. I enjoyed it, no lies
