I love the marketing for his solo albums. I remember some great moments from The Eminem Show, Encore, and especially Relapse. I honestly cannot choose. What was your favorite thing he did to promote an album? Standouts? Worst promo tactic? There are so many odd things he has done too. Remember Nicks Chips for MMLP2? haha

Relapse stands out for me, Crack a Bottle was a teaser for ages and then came We Made You with the video. I forget the order of all this but there was the Pompsomp Hills website, mobile game and a ton of other stuff. Great promo.

Encore - announced during vma's after he was the biggest star on the planet and when award shows meant something.

TES and MMLP didn't really even have a rollout.

    Probably Encore honestly.

If you're talking pure record label advertising and s---, I'm not sure. But overall marketing and promotion? That's easy...MMLP.

"Shady-mania" was inescapable. Dude was EVERYWHERE. Every age, gender, and creed knew who eminem was when he was preparing to, and after, releasing MMLP.

It was so over the top and borderline insufferable that I'm not sure you can even give that much credit to the record label. Em was all over the radio, all over MTV and BET, frequently on the news which were covering all the various protests and general eminem cultural phenomenon, he was all over check out isle publications in every grocery store, pharmacy, convenient store, etc....

It's really hard to describe the eminem phenomenon during the MMLP days to someone who wasn't a teenager (or older) living through it first hand.

Since the MMLP, I'm not sure we have seen a musical cultural phenomenon bigger than eminem (and this also probably goes for the boy bands, Britney, and Aguilera too).

I remember first seeing the MMLP2 promo. s--- had everybody hyped as f---. Imagine not hearing anything from Em in 2 years then suddenly this promo video drops with a snippet of the berzerk chorus with the words EMINEM - THE MARSHALL MATHERS LP 2 - EXEC PROD. DR DRE & RICK RUBIN
Imagine how hyped we all felt

MMLP is by far the best marketing and promotion. s--- was all over the news with the homophobia and how he just went off on everyone with no f---s given and got free press and was covered everywhere. Especially during the TRL and VMA awards and everyone watched and it caused his album to be massive

Sadly I was late to the breaking bad party. I watched every season this year, and definitely one of the best shows that I’ve watched

Encore promo was massive. I remember an xxl ad in my city (a small city from Spain), all the spanish radios & magazines talking about the release date. Even the newspapers talking about that. This in Spain for a rapper was so inusual.
