Dec 8, 2017Holy f---.
This is godly.
This is what I was dreaming of. The voice, the switch-ups, the substance, the angles he's taking with the theme... the flow... s, the hook, production... amazing.
I think this will make the feature hooks even more annoying.
f---. Soooo good.

That third verse when the beat switches, and for over 3 minutes, is one of the most meaningful and political verses Em has done since TES. 7/10.

Beat was very well produced. It sounds a lot like a Rick Rubin beat. Kudos to Em. Very different track from him. -

Being a young black man, I connected with the message in this and agree with him. I already knew that a ton of people on here wouldn't like this as soon as I heard it, but I see it as him making a statement. No, it's not the greatest song he's ever made, and of course it's not single material. I see it as him having something to say, and him being someone who grew up in a very poor area in Detroit... I'm not surprised he feels this way. Especially considering how he's still in Detroit, still connecting with people he's always known.
I think a lot of Hip Hop fans are upset by the content in what a lot of rappers have to say in recent times, not just Eminem. But the reality is, rap is a predominantly black genre, and many of these rappers come from less than ideal living conditions. It's entertainment to fans, but to rappers and to people still experiencing these situations, it's reality. The fact is, many people who live in more blessed situations can turn off the music and won't pay a second mind to what's going on with the other side, and that doesn't mean people who are more fortunate should feel guilty, but it does mean that it's something to keep in mind when you're going throughout your day -- there are people who have it much worse than you, and just because you don't experience something, doesn't mean it doesn't happen at all.
As for him speaking from a black person's perspective... I'd say he more or less touched on it accurately without overstepping his boundaries. He has to be careful when it comes to this, because the last thing people want right now is a popular white rapper trying to be the "savior" and speak for black folks, especially when there's plenty of perfectly capable black rappers that are more than vocal on the issue. Nobody wants to be a Macklemore (Sorry Mack). But I understood what the goal was, and I'm with it. The song will connect with who it's meant to connect to, and he's made his point perfectly clear. -

So dope.
This song being as broken up as it is makes me feel he's even more likely structured this album properly. Not just predictable song formats and a clash of sounds next to each other. He probably took a page out of Kendrick's book...
Just like the fact everybody could tell WoW was / should be the intro, straight away. It felt like it.
I really don't get whoever thinks this is bad. WoW was alright, grew on me a little but my first gut reaction was like 'eh'. My gut reaction to this was 'holy f---'. His lyricism is next level, his flows are dope, the production is top-notch and the hook is amazing. And the subject-matter is great in the way that he tackled it - not just for it being what it is, as the subject-matter, that alone isn't noteworthy... but how he tackled it is. He tackled it in prime Eminem style = take an otherwise serious, social topic and rap about it in a serious, yet comical and clever way. Whilst still being very musical aka not just plain-spoken, literal. Actually attacking it conceptually and with wit.
9/10 Song at the moment. Still replaying.Tarre86, BrenoB, thunderface and 5 others like this. -

Love all the Trump supporters talking about him being an SJW or following media trends, maybe the guy who grew up in a black community listening to black music and who has tons of black friends might actually believe what he's saying. h--- it's not like what he is saying isn't true. -

The first beat is a little hard to vibe too, I don't dislike it but it definitely sets a certain pretense. The 2nd half is definitely more favorable imo. The flow is great throughout. The first half of the beat tho.. confusing. Overall 7.2/10 on the sound. The subject matter is powerful a strong 9.4. Overall I'd say 8.3/10 on the 1st/2nd listen. Not single material and I don't think it's meant to be(maybe it is?) It's a good song tho. Those layered vocals... a little bit of mmlp coming thru.. "lions tigers and bears oh my!"
