Dec 20, 2017 It was entertaining because DJ Aka & Joe are characters. In all reality, their hip-hop opinions are trash. Joe is basically a “real hip-hop fan” in disguise. He tries to act like he gives current artists a chance but then in the same breathe he undermines their music by calling them “mumble rappers” and calling artists like Tech N9ne & Eminem “geniuses.” DJ Aka is just cringe worthy. He talks about s--- he knows nothing about (that whole vic mensa fiasco) & then backs into a corner when pressed on it. The whole show is them just yelling at each other which can be entertaining but it’s essentially reality television. P.S. Joe himself has said on Twitter he plays devil’s advocate on the show just to stir s--- up lol that’s corny.

I also never really saw ak get pressed into a corner, s--- I woulda handled that Vic mensa situation so much worse. Vic called him a b---- and AK said "How so?" lmao But I hear where you're coming from. The concept of everyday struggle is gold and the cast with those three was amazing

Dec 20, 2017 Listening to Joe's podcast. His reasoning is as follows: 1. Smoking in the bathroom was the first strike 2. Someone tried to break into the building because they were mad at the show and they blamed Joe because he's the most famous (Joe is a sociopath so I'm taking this one with a grain of salt) 3. Complex started choosing the topics based on their corporate interests, Joe refused to cover them, Complex tried to do those topics on the episodes without Joe but the sponsors pulled out 4. Joe repeatedly objected to having any and all guests on the show 5. Nedeska would get kick backs whenever they made a deal with aforementioned sponsors, which Joe wanted a part of Also, apparently Remy Ma was supposed to be the guest today but refused to do the show after finding out they fired Budden and they did a Best Of episode instead.
Dec 20, 2017 I called this s---: That’s precisely why DJ Aka is a lame. He acts one way on video & another in person. He loves to make videos about street s--- & how dumb rappers are for committing acts of violence & pokes fun at them etc. but doesn’t realize, it’s not that simple. People’s lives: rap artist’s friends & family members have to live that lifestyle while DJ Aka is hundreds of miles away making YouTube videos commenting/poking fun at it while also making a profit. Vic put him in his place.

He can’t be the “street dude” and also sit up there and act as a talk show persona. It doesn’t work like that.

Dec 20, 2017 Disagree. High profile & upcoming artists as guests w/ extensive discussions about not only their own artistry but relevant topics in the genre would have been interesting. Joe/DJ Aka just can’t get over themselves to pull off something like that. Tbh Complex should re-launch this show with the people from Dead End Hip-Hop. Would be much better. Plus they deserve it more than fucken DJ Akademiks.
Dec 20, 2017 By the way, migos makes incredible music but they came into that interview on edge and were giving a TERRIBLE interview. Joe walking off was the realest s--- that he could have done, gonna miss him on that show so much. Still have my fingers crossed tho
