yeah I was a white kid who grew up in seattle so my eminem experience was much, much different growing up. I don't think I knew anyone who didn't like him other than kids who said things like "you can't spell crap without RAP!!!" and listened to flogging mollyOrdinary Joel, Jay Zeus, lil uzi vert stan and 2 others like this. - Dec 25, 2025

This was interesting to read, although I'm getting bored of the repetitive themes each of these nostalgic pieces on Em continues to touch upon. I was never the biggest fan of him even when I was younger (most of us in the hood saw him as being corny), but it was hard to deny the reach he had on the globe. Sort of reminds me of the brief zeitgeist Odd Future had in the beginning of this decade with most of us that grew up watching Adult Swim, just on a much smaller scale.Ordinary Joel, Jay Zeus, Groovy Tony and 1 other person like this. -

yeah i've always gone back and forth mmlp or tes. of course the album is dated, and clearly my love for him is seeped in nostalgia. i still think white america is dope tho.
and yeah @Swizz sent that to me. some interesting observations, generally pretty thoughtful. i hate the overwrought Sartre reference and the indulgent digression on Swedish Summer Solstice party lol. "cocaine was everywhere" (guess he was in bat country.....)
tbh it's interesting seeing these pieces grappling and reconciling eminem cont to pop up as eager as some here proclaim him irrelevant and trash. this p4k piece wisely connects eminem to the late 90s, early 2000s rap rock phenom (butthole surfers, beck, limp biz) which has long been a sticking point for me. not feeling the silly rehash of the homophobia debate. like ffs how many times is that going to be opined on lolOrdinary Joel, Enigma, DKC and 1 other person like this. - Dec 25, 2025

Eminem Show aged gracefully. Compared to other albums in 2000 I'd say MMLP was dated at release. It's still raw as f--- though.Ordinary Joel, asvdawg, Groovy Tony and 1 other person like this. -

TES is f---ing great. Perhaps not groundbreaking like MMLP or SSLP and probably could have been cut a few songs shorter, but its a top notch album from an artist at his peak.Ordinary Joel, Jay Zeus and Groovy Tony like this. -

I think MMLP is his best album. It’s a tough call between MMLP and SSLP. He raps better on these albums than on the Eminem Show.
