Apr 24, 2018I wouldn't say I'm an amazing public speaker, but I think I can hold my own. Like halfway through college I realized it's only as nerve-racking as you make it. Part of my problem was I never practiced so I'd f--- up, and honestly just running through your presentation three times or so makes the difference between you operating at 50-60% confidence and 95% confidence. I also feel like taking a semi-extemporaneous approach is better than a flat-out memorized presentation, which also takes a little pressure off you and leaves you room to improvise and go off-cue.
Doing stand up a few times also helped cuz I can't see myself ever being more nervous for public speaking than the first time I did stand up.

Dislike talking to people 1 on 1
Try to avoid telling stories or anecdotes in groups (3 - 6 ppl)
But talking in front of big groups is fine. No specific eye contact has to be made & you know with a big group of people they dont really care what you have to say.Ordinary Joel, Lil Squeed, Trackz and 1 other person like this. -
