Hmm, this is a healthy debate to have over the best producer of the 2010s. Metro does have a strong claim but let's dig a little deeper...
Clams Casino by a landslide my personal favorite and has incredible consistency--he's the apotheosis of an entire sub-genre. Only problem is you're more likely to have a meteor strike your backyard than hear new Clams.
Mike Will another one that had the same consistency & logetivity as Metro, I flip-flop between them. Dude previously had a bigger buzz especially when 23 dropped.
Soundwave & the others at TDE crafted a ton of classics and helped build the modern legend that is Kendrick Lamar. As a stand alone producer idk if I'd put him in the aforementioned ranks.
FlyLo is a God amongst mortals but his rap catalog isn't as deep as the others. As a producer he's easily the best along with Clams
I guess the last name I can think of is 40, obviously he's the sonic half of the mainstream juggernaut that is Drake. Although his sound did run its course a bit.HeartsandHands, Ordinary Joel, Sahil Kohli and 4 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I'm glad Big Sean and Nav aren't on this s--- but would have loved to hear Future. Only songs I wasn't feeling were the Swae Lee/Wizkid features. Other than that, this is everything I could have wanted. I'm blown away at how good 21 has got. Thug, Future, Gunna, Gucci, Travis all murdered it. And Metro.... there's nothing to say. He's untouchable. Just on first listen this is one of the best produced projects of the year. Just hoping its not another 10 months before we hear more.JIGGA MANE, Jehovah, OwI and 2 others like this. -

The most interesting thing about this for me is how these sounds start melding together over time and eventually evolve into entirely new styles. Kendrick’s d--- was one of the best recent examples i think but you can hear all these different elements coming together all over the place these days.it feels like theres some kind of big shift on the horizon, post-trapdkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, Ordinary Joel, Fire Squad and 1 other person like this. -

Absolutely agreed about Mike Will. If anything he's just getting better with time. Can't forget about Zaytoven too.
thing is, all these guys are great but Metro just has something about his production that puts it leagues ahead of the others for me, personally. I keep returning to his s--- even from 4,5 years ago. its so filthy and dark and ominous but at the same time immaculate and clinical. he's like a crazy trap scientist. something about that sound just hits the right spot for me.
and we all know he's got the best producer tags OATLast edited: Oct 26, 2018DKC, Ordinary Joel, Zeugma and 1 other person like this. -

Listened to almost half of the songs and I gotta say, production is really good. I'M not really impressed with rappers tho. I like Travis Scott and he was good on this one too. Swae Lee was definitely good but the rest was just average for now. Anyway, I need to listen to the whole thing.Michael Myers, Lil Squeed and Sav Stanfield like this. -
