Arose It’s been almost exactly a year since Slim Shady hit what is undoubtedly the lowest point in his career. For some inexplicable reason, Em decided to double down on what made 2010’s Recovery so awful; hoarse and off-beat screaming about farts and r--- over instrumentals that sound ripped straight out of a Disney movie, with a handful of completely incompatible pop singers thrown in for good measure. Look, I appreciate the attempt at tackling some interesting issues - Both Untouchable and Like Home are godawful songs but hey, at least he tried. I guess same goes for Walk on Water and Bad Husband, even though nobody cares about Kim anymore at this point. Say what you will about MMLP2 and Kamikaze but at least Em’s more or less in a lane better suited to him on those albums. Besides for the final 2 songs (which sound very much like they were written and maybe even recorded a good 10 years prior), Revival is an irredeemable steaming heap of s---. I give it a 2/10. @RateThisAlbum
Dec 5, 2018 After a pretty good single (Walk on Water) where he again points out his flaws, I had a little hope. Then Untouchable happened. Great subject! Musically... not so good. Then we got the album. A pop record, with some pretty good guest hooks, ruined by Eminems screaming, dumb lines and childish subjects. Believe was a great way to start the album. Castle and Arose were good because of the personal stuff (not THAT enjoyable). Other than that is pretty bad. In ur head is again a decent subject but his delivery... meh. Offended remind me need me and heat are some of the worst songs he ever made. Rest is radio friendly (harmless) stuff but nothing special. Glad he returned w chlora remix and kamikaze to make up for it a little. 3/10
Dec 5, 2018 Revival is one of the worst albums i've ever heard in my life, this is the album that made me lose respect for eminem. Never have i heard an album i felt ashamed to listen to by myself. People praise believe even tho the flow is so trash its not enjoyable to listen to, chloreseptic is obnoxiously bad. The bad songs are worse than the bad songs on encore, this album is really a joke and it makes me mad even thinking about it. Album is a piece of s--- from the album cover, to eminem losing his personality and being a parody of himself, bad hooks, terrible beats, bad flow and voice. 3/10
Dec 5, 2018 This album is a steaming pile of s---. Everything bad about post-comeback Eminem is showcased in this album. Christopher Walken flows and outdated production. I tried to give this album a chance, but i checked out around track 2. Idk how anyone likes this album. Kamikaze>Revival 0/10
Dec 5, 2018 @Sav Stanfield "Em decided to double down on what made 2010’s Recovery so awful; hoarse and off-beat screaming about farts and r--- over instrumentals that sound ripped straight out of a Disney movie, with a handful of completely incompatible pop singers thrown in for good measure." Such a perfect summary of what's wrong with Recovery Eminem and really just Eminem in general since relapse This album is overproduced sellout garbage with no taste in approach to musicality or really any aspect of enjoyment 3/10 worst album of his career, only reason it's not a 1 or 2 is because Arose castle and believe Just trash, embarassing trash EDIT: btw arose is overrated to f--- on here and really Castle is too, these are not some god tier songs omggg atleazt Em delivered 2 GOAT trackz! No they're just good and better than this other s---. These are songs a good artist should have like 7-8 of on a regular size record
Dec 5, 2018 f--- Revival. No Em, it wasn’t a f---ing porterhouse or sliders that you served us, it was 30 oz of donkey c-m. 1/10 Worst album of his career and it’s not even close.
Dec 5, 2018 Revival has zero truly great songs, and a s--- ton of really bad ones. Bad production, bad mixing, bad flows, bad content, just a truly miserable experience to sit through. Awful, awful album that I hope to never revisit or have to hear anything from again. Easily his worst album to date. 2/10
Dec 5, 2018 it's a 5.5/10 album for me after a whole year. Really average. Just mad that Castle, Arose, In Your Head and Believe weren't used in another project. These tracks could've be unforgettable but they'll never get the recognition they deserve cause they're on this album
Dec 5, 2018 4/10. Believe, Castle and Arose are dope. I also kind of liked Bad Husband and Framed. His worst album by far imo
Dec 5, 2018 0/10 no songs I come back to, no songs I like, I only remember anything about it because it was so bad. I dont think I listened to it in full in one try
Dec 5, 2018 Think I'll sit this one out @Sav Stanfield , although one of these days I'll listen to Eminem's post-Recovery catalog
Dec 5, 2018 While we had quite accustomed ourselves to Eminem's choppy and grunting flow since his last album, there was no way we could have prepared for Revival. The soulless album sinisterly sucks any joy out of the room it's being played in, while the once effortlessly funky Eminem now struggles to articulate exhausting syllables about various topics. The production has no cohesion and really no personality ; verses, hooks and beats sound so sad to be hooked together that they barely sound like actual songs. The rare exceptions (Framed, Castle/Arose) obviously get madly overrated since they are gems in the context, but they're really the poor man's 3 a.m and When I'm Gone. Rick Rubin went from cooking the decent Berzerk and the good Rhyme Or Reason on 2013's MMLP2 to some of the most lazy uses of sampling of all time - I never want to hear Heat or In Your Head in my life again. Like every post-hiatus album, Revival is an inexplicable yet interesting thing to happen in Eminem's career. The complete lack of creativity and skills (and, really, musicality) involved, however, still makes it the least appealing body of work that Eminem has ever produced. On Relapse, Recovery and MMLP2, you had this fascinating and terribly frustrating sense that the music could have been very interesting had Eminem gotten better advice on some minor things... While there's nothing to save here. 0/10 (pardon my poor english btw)
Dec 5, 2018 Well since people are obviously being ridiculous I'm gonna be doing exact opposite. I actually like the album. It's nowhere near as bad as people say it is. There weren't bad songs at all. There were some fillers like remind me and heat I kinda enjoyed those anyway. I think the album was a breath of fresh air to me with its' sound. It had different vibes and unlike most of the rappers nowadays it wasn't autotuned vocals over trap beats on 15 songs which sound very alike. Castle and arose are arguably the best post hiatus tracks. Arose could be the only song that could make me emotional as h--- anytime I hear. Believe is a classic. Walk on water is a classic. I think untouchable like home and bad husband hates are very funny. I bet many of you would loved them if it wasn't for the stupid bandwagon created by people. I normally would have given this album like 7 or SMH like that. But just to make this a lil more fair and make up for those hater points, my final score is 10/10
Dec 5, 2018 The worst Eminem album by far and the only one I've gotten essentially zero enjoyment out of. Despite their flaws, MMLP2/Recovery/Kamikaze/Relapse/Encore I at least had some fun with for a bit or have some redeeming songs on them. There's really nothing here that I ever want to go back to—even the "good" songs like castle and arose kinda are just rehashes of stuff he's already done better. It's a jumbled mess of the worst qualities of Recovery, Relapse, and MMLP2 with some half-hearted political stuff he jammed in there. Was expecting much more in that department after he went so hard at Trump during the lead up. I'm not that big a fan of Walk on Water musically but at least it's honest and pretty well written if I remember right. So he gets a point each for that and the last two songs. 3 san antonio rest stop poops out of 10 @Papa Alpha Andy
