Nov 23, 2018 yes i think no billionaire inherited their money from their parents etc. notice i said someone not everyone.
Nov 23, 2018 Yeah you're right 'earned' kinda implies they deserved it, which is not always the case. The money they 'made' is a better term I guess.
Nov 23, 2018 Inheritance is a very small percentage of the non-work responsible for huge concentrations of wealth.
Nov 23, 2018 theres' an argument to be made that taxing billionaires out of existence may stifle innovation/motivation, etc. But its impossible to predict what would happen unless its actually tried, very carefully. I'd be very curious to see how it would turn out, especially in the US. But I doubt it would ever actually happen anytime soon, there's just too much resistance to the idea. Plus theres a lot of other potential downsides.
Nov 23, 2018 Communists absolutely make me sick. Yes billionaries should exist. Communists? h--- no. Taxing billionaires out of existence isn't any more fair than some people being poor and some being rich
Nov 23, 2018 Literally if everyone itt became a billionaire they would donate the minimum amount to get the tax break and be spending all of their money on sports cars and women If you say no you are lying
Nov 23, 2018 I can't see something like this happening in America unless forced with an iron fist and potential civil war
Nov 23, 2018 well the difference of being poor or rich is greater than the difference of being a billionaire or multi multi millionaire
Nov 23, 2018 I still don't see why taxing billionaries out of existence would be fair. Communists love to complain how unfair it is that some are poor and some are rich, but apperently taking away s--- ton of money from people (that someone earned wether you like it or not) seems completely fair.
Nov 23, 2018 Not a communist here and I don't agree with OP but logically speaking being downgraded from mega rich to super rich is more fair than being poor. If you're gonna be a capitalist pig at least own up to it and admit it's not fair come on bro
Nov 24, 2018 Of course I’d splurge on some s--- if I instantly became a billionaire. Of course I’d upgrade my life beyond my five figure salary. Anyone would. But as I’ve said a billion dollars is unfathomably large. I could blow 10 mil on a vacation and still have 990 mil which is bonkers. With that kind of money you could do insane good in the world while still living an insanely great/privileged lifestyle. I’m not trying to pretend I’m 100% selfless and would instantly donate it all to charity. I’d hire someone who knows more about money than me to help figure out how it could best be spent/donated (and of course in this hypothetical situation it depends if this is a one time billion dollar payout or if I’m a “perpetual” billionaire).
Nov 24, 2018 Well yeah of course Id donate money too, Id donate at least 10 mil to Make A Wish and Id start a foundation to rebuild Baltimore and clean the streets up. But people in here are acting like Bill Gates should have most of his money taken and redistributed to the poor, which is wrong I couldnt imagine working my whole life to have some dumbass come along and say "you have too much money, so Im taking most of it". Appaling to think about.
Nov 24, 2018 I'd take being a capitalist pig 365 days out of the year over being a dirty commie or socialist. Life isn't fair. If the kids in the ghettos would grow up and do something with their lives rather than becoming worthless gangbangers, maybe they wouldn't stay poor.
Nov 24, 2018 I wouldn't consider a billionaire becoming a millionaire appalling. I consider the wealth distribution and state of our country right now appalling. I don't think you can really take the moral high ground when you're defending billionaires' right to have a billion dollars over the poor's right to have/afford basic needs like healthcare.
