    Atlantic records basically paid for the award to validate her in rap. This is the same label pushing bad babie or whatever the foul mouthed white girls name is. Corporate America is ruining the artform for profit

    Invasion of Privacy wasn't the best album in 2018 but it was great. It's still better than Eminem winning an award every other year for his mediocre albums.

    Swimming was hands down my favorite album, but I would have been OK with Push or Travis winning. Such a shame.

    100% agree and this is a widespread opinion within the community and culture of hip hop, isn't it? That's why Cardi being celebrated, especially by hip hop enthusiasts, baffles me

    Stop talking about the Grammys. The best rap albums award is fundamentally an award the Grammys themselves don't respect or view as legitmate, it just exists so they get attention from rap fans. The fact that the Grammys are able to blatantly disrespect rap and honestly black ppl in general and still be respected is crazy

    Does it matter as long as the music's good? She certainly had a huge corporate push but I wouldn't really call her entirely manufactured.

    Plus it's never really been clear by the results whether "rap album of the year" is for relevancy or quality or both. If it's relevancy, she wins no question. If it's quality, it's probably a toss up between Daytona, IOP, and Swimming for me. If it's both, she probably still has the edge with Daytona as a close second.
