Mar 10, 2020 a literal game show host that has the personality of a South Park character is President right now. —————————————————————— I’ll fully support Biden if he’s the nominee. I think the most important thing is for the country to get a competent president back in the White House that actually has the nation’s interests in mind. The amount of damage that Trump has done to the White House, our institutions & our democracy is unbelievable. We need a president that will bring back standards & transparency. Rebuild trust in institutions that Trump has damaged. I’m talking the most basic tasks such as routine press pools & press conferences that are nonexistent in this administration. However, with that being said, I do foresee myself getting rather frustrated with a Biden administration. His throw back style of politics of wanting to “reach across the aisle” & have both sides work together & debate like the old days might sound appealing to most Americans who don’t stay in tuned with politics 24/7 (like @Boos said himself) but for me it’s just bs. The GOP is corrupt at its core. Their leadership has allowed a demagogue to not only hijack their party but rip apart all types of ethical & legal standards we come to expect from the executive branch. We can’t just go back & pretend to be buddy buddy with these guys & act like they didn’t sell out their country for political power. Democrats need to make power moves when they take back the White House & Senate. That means throwing out the filibuster; adding more Supreme Court justices; passing a new voters rights act; passing tougher campaign laws; etc. It’s clear at this point that the 3 branches of government aren’t enough to protect the U.S. from a wannabe authoritarian. There needs to be more safe guards in place to make it much more difficult for a Donald J. Trump esque candidate to win the presidency.
Mar 10, 2020 As entertaining as this might be, it’s this kind of mud slinging that I want to stay away from this election cycle. It won’t matter if don jr loses, he’ll spew so much false information & that’ll be mission accomplished. It’s what happened to Hillary. People honestly believed Trump & Hillary were “equally as bad.” That’s largely due to a lot of propaganda/false information that the GOP’s propaganda machine pushed.
Mar 10, 2020 Oh for sure, #1 it's not actually going to happen and #2 Don Jr. is only suggesting it because he knows it will only benefit him no matter the outcome
Mar 10, 2020 Beautiful job by Biden today with the union workers. I'm sure he's got their vote in the general election now!! Illogical and unnecessary anger and agitation definitely aren't a sign of dementia or anything!
Mar 10, 2020 I just want to win. And I don't think a man with dementia challenging the much needed working class voters to fist fights and push up contests while calling them fatso and insulting their intelligence is a winning strategy Maybe telling them he doesn't work for them like he did today will get it done though.
Mar 10, 2020 Yep. And if the Dems want to win Biden has got to move left on something that will get people 45 and younger behind him. He just has to. Obama needs to start campaigning like crazy and Biden needs to be hidden as much as possible. Oh... and Hillary Clinton better stay as far as f---ing possible away from Biden's campaign.
Mar 10, 2020 Lol god it seems like Hillary is everywhere recently, she was even on f---ing Howard Stern. Like I assume it was to promote that Hulu thing but I cannot imagine there’s much overlap between Hillary Clinton fans and Howard Stern listeners. I can only hope Biden picks a decent VP that helps attract progressive/younger voters as well.
Mar 10, 2020 not sure I agree, and I’m a Warren supporter. She doesn’t come from a swing state, she doesn’t mitigate concerns about age (and, relatedly, does nothing to help Biden’s issues with young voters), she brings Medicare for All back into the conversation - and Bernie supporters aren’t even fond of her at this point (if Twitter is to be believed, at least, and maybe it isn’t) I’m not going to be mad if he picks her, I think she’s more than qualified. I just wouldn’t advise it, politically
Mar 10, 2020 If she can get him to get on board with her views on college/student loan forgiveness I could see them getting the younger vote. I'm sure she'd stay quiet with M4A and as far as Bernie Bros goes I don't see them doing too much damage. f--- they couldn't even take care of a primary.
Mar 10, 2020 The whole argument for Biden as the nominee is that he resonates well with voters in swing states. If he doesn’t offer that himself as the nominee & we need a VP from a swing state, what the h--- does biden even offer as a candidate? Warren is a progressive who attracted a mix of 2016 Clinton & Sanders supporters. Warren supporters 2nd choice between Biden/Sanders was d--- near a 50/50 split. She appeals to enough of the progressive wing of the party & with Sanders campaigning by her side, more would come around. She’s a woman who was popular with highly educated African-Americans. She’s tremendously well spoken, organized & articulate. A ticket with a moderate leading & progressive VP I think would do wonders in terms of unifying the party.
Mar 11, 2020 hmm, maybe. I personally think the reason Warren lost is because Dem voters determined she was too risky to be on the ticket, and I think Biden’s campaign will be decidedly risk averse. But we’ll see. Again, I don’t object on the merits
Mar 11, 2020 Biden honestly seems more and more like another Donald Trump, anytime i try to watch one of his speeches. Like the video clip M Solo quoted me. They’re pretty much replicates. Plus, Biden has a HUGE corruption problem: “Democrats are trying to choose a candidate to beat Donald Trump, the most corrupt president in history. Some think nominating Joe Biden, a moderate white man who calls himself “Middle Class” Joe, makes sense. It looks like “Middle Class” Joe has perfected the art of taking big contributions, then representing his corporate donors at the cost of middle- and working-class Americans. Converting campaign contributions into legislative favors and policy positions isn’t being “moderate”. It is the kind of transactional politics Americans have come to loathe.“ Second, healthcare. On 25 April, the day he announced his campaign, Biden went straight to a fundraiser co-hosted by the chief executive of a major health insurance corporation. He refuses to sign a pledge to reject money from insurance and pharma execs and continues to raise money from healthcare industry donors. His campaign is being bankrolled by a super Pac run by healthcare lobbyists. What did all these donors get? A healthcare proposal that preserves the power of the insurance industry and leaves 10 million Americans uninsured. Third, climate change. Biden signed a pledge not to take money from the fossil fuel industry, then broke his promise. Right after a CNN town hall on climate change, he held a fundraiser hosted by the founder of a fossil fuel conglomerate. He is pushing climate policy that has gotten dismal reviews from several leading environmental groups.” YIKES^^^^^^ https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th...2020/jan/20/joe-biden-corruption-donald-trump
Mar 11, 2020 Bernie supporters are so dumb. Dont even know how to vote.. Biden has no chance. Trump will eat him alive in a debate.
Mar 11, 2020 Why? He's outperformed Hillary while Sanders' youthful revolution have underperformed. Doesn't that suggest his coalition of black voters + working class + older voters could make a difference in spots like Michigan? I'll take 20k scenesters sitting this one out over 50k more moderate voters who could tip the scales in spots like PA. Agreed. She's another divisive Hillary-type... parse out the sexism in that if you wish. I think the goal will definitely be a Veep candidate who both: a) could conceivably be President in 2024, and b ) while also generating excitement in other pockets of the party. It's a surprising short list tbh. Also I kind of disagree about the "full of s---!" video - I think voters want a fighter. If he can stand up to some 2A doofus, he might be able to bring the fight to Trump. That said, more muted and dignified Biden - as we saw during his speech last nite - might resonate more.
