    Denzel Curry

Given the artists you’ve listed in OP i’d be pretty surprised if you’re not already a Denzel fan. But if you havent listened yet, well, heres your answer.

    Album to check out: ZUU

    2 Chainz

Deadass, probably the closest you’ll get to your list in OP. His last 2 albums have both been contenders for AOTY. Still just as funny as he was in the early 10s but with the maturity and gravitas his contemporaries could never really carry over into their second acts.

Album to check out: Rap or Go to the League

    DaBaby

Brash, hilarious, unique. Best music videos in the game. Check out his debut album from earliet this year called Baby on Baby.

Album to check out: Baby on Baby

    Maxo Kream

Hardcore s--- with a classic H-Town sound with a bit of that A$AP take on Texas. Insanely talented, flow smooth as butter, lots of gangsta s--- but has got increasingly personal and introspective on his last 2 albums. One of the best story-tellers in the game right now.

Album to check out: Brandon Banks

    Mick Jenkins

At first I thought about puttin SABA on here as my Chicago pick but Mick Jenkins is just straight up better in all aspects and dossnt sound as much a Kendrick clone as Saba does. The man is a poet.

Album to check out: The Waters

    JPEGMAFIA

Bit of a gamble, this dudes music is pretty d--- experimental. His latest album blew my mind though. Go in with an open mind. You never know.

Album to check out: ALL MY HEROES ARE CORNBALLS

    Flatbush Zombies

Right up your alley. Draw heavily from clasic 90s/00s but add their own weird twist. Ardived with an amazing mixtape but never really lived up to expectations since, even though they have put out some seriously dope music.

    Album to check out: BetterOffDead

Curious to hear your thoughts on these @Tonshor. Lmk when you’ve checked em out. Or if you need more recommwndations.

Not trying to be a d-ck at all when I say this, but I think you'll learn to enjoy music a lot more if you try to ease out of the mentality that certain artists are automatically trash because they adhere to a certain style or are associated with a certain movement. We'll all always have our preferences of course, but I started having a lot more fun listening to music once I made an effort to throw out my preconceived notions and be more open to all styles and subgenres.

Couldn't agree with this more. I used to have such a closed mind when it came it what I listened to, just because it was different from what I was used to to. I eventually begrudgingly gave in and tried out Future, Young Thug, etc. (mostly because of how hyped they were on this forum) and once I got over the initial discomfort of how different they were it opened me up to so much amazing new music - not necessarily 'mumble rap' - its just because of how innovative and different they were that I realized the value of seeking out new s--- I hadn't heard before.

I like to think I do but I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I do know where you're coming from though.

@Tonshor and @DJ Lithium the whole Griselda crew is doing a lot of 90’s/early 00’s throwback kinda music right now. Roc Marciano as well. A few albums worth checking out from them:

Benny the Butcher - The Plugs I Met
    Conway - GOAT
West side Gunn - Supreme Blientelle

Roc Marciano has too many to name but Kaos (fully produced bubble DJ Muggs) was a recent great drop you’d probably enjoy.

EarthGang just dropped an album called MirrorLand which everyone is freaking out about claiming they’re the next OutKast, so that might be up your alley. Also J. Cole and the Dreamville roster dropped one of the best albums of the year in Revenge if the Dreamers III, all the way through a much more ‘traditional hip hop’ listen, I guess you could say.

And what about TDE? I’m sure you’d enjoy Jay Rock, Kendrick, Isaiah Rashad. I’d lump YG in this more west-coast based group of artists, here too, who’s made some of the best albums of the decade. Try out My Krazy Life or Still Brazy.

And then the whole Beast coast movement. Joey Bada$$ sounds like he came out of 1998. Already mentioned Flatbush Zombies. Powers Pleasant just dropped a great EP.

Tried Earthgang. Really diggin it. It can be hit or miss but there has been a lot of excellent tracks so far. Great suggestion.

Listened to a couple of Flatbush Zombies songs as well. Really liked what I heard. Will have to try out more of their stuff to see.

Haven't added this much new music to my collection in nearly a decade lol. So much variety it's crazy. Been sleeping on this hard.

Thanks again to you and everyone else who have posted suggestions. I still have plenty of material left to cover.

    @Lil Squeed @Big Cuntry

I listened to Freddie Gibbs - Shadow of a Doubt album. It's great. You guys should definitely try it if you haven't heard that one already. Pinata was really good too.

Will definitely be checking out other Freddie Gibbs albums including midwestganstaboxframecadllicamuzik. So far, he has been the best discovery. But first I will continue to check out other artists that have been mentionned in the thread.

    So far:

    1) Freddie Gibbs
    2) Denzel Curry
    3) 2 Chainz

Oh. Yea, I added no mumble rappers since 95% of what i've heard I found annoying. But there are actually a couple Young Thug tracks I do find decent.

Just didn't feel like going through a bunch of these suggestions just to find 1 decent song out of 100 so wanted to eliminate that category alltogether since in general that style/sound doesn't appeal to me.

I was more referring to the topic title and you calling 2 chainz a trash rapper. But that’s totally fair

    Big Thanks for this.

Started listening to some of his material yesterday. Really enjoying the Pinata album.

Oh and this track alone is the best thing I have heard since starting this thread. Straight up flames.

    :sweatt:

    Definitely more up my alley.
