    Remove the Stepdad hook and track a 10/10 g.d. why both Em and Alc had to snap like that

    Hi everyone, I was thinking earlier what made this album so successful is it’s kind of singular, feeling (for once) as Eminem doing an actual rap record. Not an Eminem record

    Obviously his other albums were rap but they always felt bogged down somehow:
    -sslp, mmlp and tes (then encore) are all kind of a continuation of the same story, themes
    -then mmlp2 is obviously a sequel
    -relapse, recovery and revival are all in concert w one another
    -kamikaze is good but it’s so slight it doesn’t feel like a real project or whatever.

    So music to be murdered by has that album feel, but without all the mythology baggage, more just rapping and rapping about the love of rap. Might be one of his better pure technical records that works on its own merits since sslp. Pls like this post if you agree

    Yeah I’ve always viewed them sorta like this:

    SSLP - MMLP - MMLP2

    TES - Encore - (Curtain Call lol)

    Relapse - Recovery - Revival

    Kamikaze is almost a bookend to the [Re] trilogy, it’s very reactionary and feels like for the most part it was made in a specific moment.

    MTBMB was made simply for Em’s love of rap and I can respect that despite its shortcomings.

    SSLP
    MMLP

    Tier 2:
    Relapse
    Encore
    MTBMB
    Kamikaze

    Tier 3:
    MMLP2
    Recovery
    Revival

    Tier 2 you could really shuffle around in almost any order I think. Encore is very uneven obviously but the good moments are up there with his best work. You can see the makings of a true eminem show sequel in there in between the dogshit. MTBMB/Kamikaze are more cohesive and leveled but don't have as high of highs. Personally I'd take the good stuff on encore/relapse over anything on mtbmb/kami (though I will say I think Godzilla is his best single in nearly a decade, maybe more).

    The Stepdad hook isn't the greatest hook but I don't think its that bad. It fits the song.
