    Trump is getting administered dexamethasone (steroid to reduce inflammation) which is usually reserved for severe cases. Not looking good for him.

    note to self: don't eat mconalds every day when i'm in my 70s

    if trump were to pass, and people have already been sending in their presidential election votes, then what would happen? obviously pence would be the republican runner, but would there need to be a re-vote process since he wouldn't have been on the ballot?

    Very unlikely imo. When you vote for a president you vote for a ticket acknowledging that if something happens to the head of the ticket, the VP candidate would head the ticket. Same concept when if something happens to the president, VP fills in. In that hypothetical, it’d be interesting to see though if Pence would select a VP candidate or just finish out the campaign solo. Ballots have already been sent out & casted so replacing Trump’s name on the ballot is out of the question.

    it’s insane that this is the case but most legal scholars agree that... no one really knows. to the extent that “obviously pence would be the republican runner” is not even necessarily true.

    WPG is right in the aspect that there’s nothing in writing that specifically states what to do if a presidential candidate dies a month before the election. There is uncertainty but the most sensible course of action would be Pence is the head of the ticket & the election continues as planned. Calls for a re-vote would have to go through the courts & that would be a LENGTHY process that is a) unlikely to succeed & b) would take months for the courts to reach a final decision.
