You people? Sensing yet another dog whistle from you. And yes trump is weaponizing the riots to fear monger soooooo? (Though my point wasn’t even political - I will hold you, Paul Maurice Thompson of 1302 cedar brook falls drive, 55101 - personally responsible. Be best.)

again: painfully naive to think that there’s just a certain way to protest that trump and republicans would be totally flummoxed by and not be able to turn into a culture/race war.

and by “you people” i mean folks whose salaries are paid by the biden campaign!

Oh wpg. Sweet virginal wpg. Accusing another of naïvete, that’s rich. All your politics are hypothetical! Even when reality smacks you in the face you keep things rhetorical. Like yes, republicans will always be evildoers - we know dirty tricks won’t stop. But thats not a defense for or condoning optics of violence, looting lol. Like what? No forced errors, let’s not give them softballs yes?

Hey just bc I did oppo research on you, and other enemies of the state, by listening to ur entire discography doesn’t mean I was paid! Black jack donaghy indeed.....

I think this is supposed to reflect badly on the Clinton/Biden supporters, but doesn't leveling blame at the left make sense, at least with respect to 16? (too early to talk 2020). The petulant refusal to embrace Clinton in 16, in a close election, very much mattered! It's not the only thing that mattered - Clinton's deep unpopularity and neglect of the Midwest and the media's obsession with emails and Russia etc. etc. etc. - but is it so difficult to believe it made a difference?

Frame it this way - if Bernie had won the Dem primary, but a slice of the Democratic party became Never Bernie-ers/crossover Trump votes/stayed at home, you'd feel some frustration at them for being sore losers, right? The post-election blame probably wouldn't leave them untouched, would it?

I think your argument is that the onus is on the candidate to expand their support, and I get that rationale (and agree with it!), I'm just wondering if it's a standard that would be consistently applied. I really haven't heard a lot of Bernie supporters grappling with why he lost the primary, it's been all about the big mean establishment conspiring against him.

Anyway, this is all theoretical - for now, Biden seems to be doing just fine, imho! If he ends up losing, my guess is that it will be due to a whole host of factors, just like it was for Clinton - including but not limited to problems with liberals

no, i feel the way you get at in your next paragraph––the onus is on every candidate to win every vote.

Not as bad as people make it out to be, but yes. I don't think he's mentally incompetent as it stands, but I worry about his mental health deteriorating a couple years down the line. (To be clear, I'd be worried about Bernie's as well even though he seems 100% mentally sound right now—you just never know once you hit a certain age).

I dunno how people bring up 'dementia' or try to say Biden isn't there mentally and then go on to defend Trump lol, Trump's proved every day how mentally unfit he is. Can't imagine any way Biden is even half as bad.

    here's our great president today:

I rather have kids and put them in a day care ran by Casey Anthony than vote for Trump, I just think there should be an age limit to running for office. You have to be at least 35, cut off should be 65. Either of these guys could die tomorrow from natural causes. Not even thinking of dementia

lol come on andy, you’re in here lecturing teenagers about “the mechanics of outrage” or whatever. talk about hypothetical! you admittedly have no interest in community organizing or anything that exists outside of an electoral lens—fine. must be easy to be smug when you’re not that interested in the realities.

what you’re arguing is, again, so staggeringly naive that i’m actually a little bit shocked. every time someone who “agrees with the protests, just not some of the tactics!!!!!!!!” loudly hand-wrings about optics etc, they’re doing the republicans/cops’ bidding. all the republicans/cops have to do then is:

    a. create conditions on the ground that make “unacceptable” protest inevitable, and

    b. characterize the protests as a whole as being like that

if you really want to eliminate unforced errors, stop handing the other side the precise circumstances under which you’ll turn against protesters and the blueprint for creating those circumstances. that’s why i called you naive.

“the police murder an impressive number of americans every year, and do so with relative impunity, so of course communities have hit a breaking point” is the politically shrewd stance, not just the morally sound one.
