    The officer deserves trial like all citizens (though I don’t trust our legal system to give him what he deserves) but I also won’t lose a wink of sleep if he’s murdered in his home tonight.

    you keep imagining that i’m the one approaching this as if it’s theoretical when that’s exactly what you’re doing.

    is killing someone wrong, in absolute terms? sure, of course. but the cops just keep doing it, with virtually no oversight and rarely any consequences. camping on their front lawn doesn’t work to change it; neither does holding hands and singing, or voting, or writing op-eds, or anything else that has been going on for decades.

    you keep retreating to this mealy-mouthed ideological center that, again, does not exist in the sense that it can never be realized in these situations. cops gas and beat “peaceful” protesters; they do worse to “violent” ones. government clearly doesn’t care about the voices of people affected by this — maybe they’ll listen to property owners! but no, you say, that’s too “radical,” no breaking windows allowed.

    so what are people supposed to do? tuck their tails between their legs and take it? to use your word from earlier, i think it’s extremely cucked to argue that to be “adult” is to throw up your hands and say that a better world is absolutely not possible and that anyone who fights to build one is an idiot.

    Well like all those things you listed that didn't work, wasn't Mike Brown (or some other example of innocent black shot dead by cop) shot like 4 yrs ago? Cause there was a big riot after that and I know there's been a handful since... Clearly looting the city and rioting isn't making cops go "hmph, my empathy just turned on!"
