Really like 'Vegas' bit unorthodox but I think Em is really solid on it

No, I agree - it's not comparable. Man would I also love another Renegade track or one of my personal favorites Marshall Mathers. But I know it's not always about getting what I want. In the very early 90's I was in to "techo rap" (2 Unlimited, Culture Beat etc.). Problem was, it was always the same. I kept wanting to get another great track just like it - and I kept getting it! Eventually I couldn't care less about it. I appreciate having to put in an effort to enjoy something and I think hit or miss, Eminem actually tries to do this very often.

We all have different perspectives on music and well I like it to evolve I also think this is what seperates the stayers from the one-hit wonders. Could he keep his old style and stay a super star? Is that even something to strive for? I honestly don't know - but I do appreciate the variety that this one artist has given me over the years, even with all the crap in between.

I'm not hating and I've expressed how pleasantly surprised I am with this album but nothing here comes even close to touching No Apologies.

If you really look at it, he rapped in present time (2006) two freestyle verses from 2002 plus a crappy 2006 verse mixed with an epic hook.

Lose Yourself demo version cancels out that song on the Re-up.

So, rest of Shady XV > Re-up

No Apologies >>>>> Lose Yourself Demo

Although I don't really consider the Lose Yourself Demo part of ShadyXV when evaluating the album.

So by that logic, you shouldn't include No Apologies as part of Re-up

So by that logic Beautiful shouldn't be part of Relapse? No. No Apologies was still a new song.

The Lose Yourself demo (while great) is an unfinished scrapped version of a song we've heard long ago. I don't think it should be included in reviews.

Die Alone might have the worst intro on the entire album, sounds like a dull elevator tune or a game of Mario Kart on the Wii starting :'(. Plus, the chorus and beat are absolutely horrendous and unlistenable. It even has a Recovery-era s-----y punchline: "Damnit Im drawin' blanks like I'm playing hangman". Looks like I'll keep Vegas, Lose Yourself and Fine Line and get rid of the rest.

which makes sense seeing as most of No Apologies was written in 2002 before the major downfall.

I don't like Vegas at all tbh. Would take Psycopath Killer, Fine Line, LY demo over it any day. Twisted would be great without that horrendous overmixed hook. Yela did great, especially that PK hook.

But you're assuming that everybody is in agreement that Lose Yourself Demo = No Apologies. While it was cool to hear I don't really see myself listening to Lose Yourself Demo very much. It was good but it was utter s--- compared to the song he ended up releasing. Compared to the original the beat is worse, the chorus is worse, and the verses are good but not great. In 2006, regardless of when it was recorded, all of No Apologies was brand new. I've listened to that song hundreds and hundreds of times over the last 8 years and consider it a top 10 Eminem song. Yeah the third verse wasn't up to par with the first two but it wasn't horrible. The other two verses, hook, beat and outro of the song were literally flawless and I don't see how the Lose Yourself Demo can be compared. Like I said it's good but I don't see myself listening to it very much. For me it was kind of like "Whoa, this is different, cool." and that's it. If I have the urge to listen to Lose Yourself from here on out i'll be listening to the original 99 times out of 100.

To be fair though the hook, beat and outro were all made in 2006. We've(RB, SL) been over this before.

The Lose Yourself demo was unfinished obviously, it shouldn't be evaluated as a finished product and thus a comparison to No Apologies is not really fair. While inferior to the final version, the verses pack a lot more intensity and delivery-wise this is very close to Eminem in his absolute prime. They should release more unreleased material from this era.

word to Star Nizzy, this album has some of the worst hooks of the year. I can't believe how bad some of these choruses are melodically.

as for Marshall, I dunno, he had his moments. I will give a few of these songs some more plays to see what sticks. As of now, I think I'm gonna have a real problem replaying this a lot for the reasons I already stated, and also because I think modern day Em humor is way too corny (how many Lorena Bobbit reference did I hear? 2? 3? Isn't it almost 2015?). It has its moments, but overall I guarantee 6 months from now everybody will be (rightly) calling this inconsequential and totally forgettable.

btw I can't remember the last time I heard a song as terrible as Bane. Anyone who still shows even the slightest interest in a new D12 album is out of their mind.

it seems like shady xv is a good version of so far, while right for me is a less awkward version of evil twin.
