top 15 in no order from a lowly pleb:

the master, boyhood, moonrise kingdom, wolf of wall street, the social network, before midnight, holy motors, blue is the warmest color, toy story 3, 12 years a slave, birdman, whiplash, under the skin, ex machina, interstellar

still havent seen tree of life for some f---ing reason. and a few other essentials obviously.

edit: realized i didnt put spring breakers subconsciously out of spite but it would be in there somewhere for sure. probably kick...uhh idk

@Narsh decent list but interstellar doesnt belong anywhere near ur top 15. martian is better. gravity is better. tree of life is WAY better.

Interstellar is much better than gravity. Gravity is a good reference film for technicality. Haven't seen the Martian but I doubt it's better

birdman's fantastic, the f---? and you have spring breakers @ #3 smh.

also whiplash was dope imo. like i said had I watched some other essentials I wouldnt have personal favorites like Whiplash or Interstellar on there.

Nope, I saw gravity in all its glory when it came out. ZERO desire to ever rewatch it.

Im not even as big a Nolan fan as most, but I've seen interstellar twice now (was even better the second time which I didnt except). and might be top 3 Nolan for me.

No desire to watch the martian. but i might check it out.


no need to compare it (or anything else on my list) to tree of life lol. Only seen it in bits till now. will get to it @ some point.

So: Apartment, Citizen Kane, Godfather, The Searchers... Spring Breakers? Bad opinion. It's an entertaining, subversive, campy film
