Love the Mike Mayock hiring as a Raider fan. Big boom or bust. Definitely not the safe pick.

i'm glad you mentioned this. i was going to ask you what you thought of the raiders making mayock their GM. its an unconventional hire for sure. mayock is known for being an analyst. i mean don't get me wrong i love listening to him and i hope he does great, but its certainly a surprising hire

People freaking out about him having no GM or front office experience. You see s--- like this happen all the time. It’s unconventional yes, but he’s one of the best draft minds out there. He’ll be focusing there too. He won’t have to worry about the Cap or contract structuring since our cap guy stayed. I think he’s a perfect fit alongside Gruden who will be able to match his fire and passion. I think it works out.

Well Timmy, you’re losing this argument. First of all, Tomlin won one super bowl from a stacked team that was already Super Bowl bound. The defense got old and he hasn’t built a strong defense in all his years in Pittsburgh. And Tomlin is supposed to be some mastermind at coaching the defense and drafting defensive players.

He had Ben, Bell, Brown, Shuster, arguably the best offense in the league for a few years. Yet, you never made it to the Super Bowl? And losing to weak teams like the Broncos and Raiders comes down to bad coaching preparation. Tomlin obviously thought they were going to be an automatic win and didn’t coach and take the teams serious during practice week. As former Steelers have said, he’s more of a cheerleader than a head coach.

What has he done with talent Timmy? He won zero super bowls after he started drafting and running a team. There’s no excuse for him being a coach this long for the Steelers and not getting them to the Super Bowl. He’s a terrible head coach. What’s sad is they’re easily the best team in the AFC but had weak losses do to poor game planning and preparation. There’s a reason all sport analysts and ex Steelers are turning their back on him.

Giants drafted Saquon what, number 2? And he played fantastic and it still didn't mean s---. They could've drafted their QB of the future in a QB heavy draft and have him w/ a year under his belt

    what a terrible decision

Sam Darnold arguably played just as good as Eli this year too, as a rookie. He’s only going to get better while Eli will continue to be more & more of a liability.

you seem to be under the impression that i was defending tomlin. that's not what i was doing. i was simply pointing out that he's done a lot of winning since he's been your head coach. but you could certainly make an argument that he could have done more in the playoffs.

if you notice, i said at the beginning of my post that i think coaching is hard to judge. generally speaking, i don't have strong opinions on coaches and that applies to mike tomlin as well. there are several things you have to factor in when judging a head coach.

it seems like the steelers haven't gotten back to the superbowl since ben's early days because their defense hasn't been the same. the steelers use to lean on their defense. regardless of what you think of tomlin, he'll probably be there for at least a few more years because the steelers rarely change head coaches
