Watched The Gambler on Christmas Day. It was entertaining but the original was better. The ending was very disappointing.

"Into The Woods" with the family... I felt bamboozled by Disney.... It's a d--- musical. Nowhere in ads does it elude to being a musical...Good enough for a family flick but it got too long and I was wanting to leave... 10 people did leave. Kids enjoyed it.

Saw Foxcatcher at home... Channing Tatum could act? Mark Ruffalo training to be Hulk without the CG? Steve Carrell uglier than he is?

Good movie as far as the acting but the narrative felt stale. Watch it... But don't pay for it...
I'd like to here what others thought of it.

The Grand Budapest Hotel. Solid performances throughout, especially Ralph Fiennes and the actor who played Zero. I really enjoyed the story within a story aspect of the film. The film also made me reflect on something that I've thought about repeatedly throughout my life, especially the past couple of years, after losing a couple of older relatives. They lived full lives and I'll never even know a tenth of what they did or went through. And the same will happen with me as well as most other people. Even if you achieve some notoriety, there will be huge aspects of your life that will be forgotten or simply never known. The older Zero was mostly known for his wealth but his mentor, who had a huge impact on his life, was largely forgotten.

I watched Both The Sixth Sense & The Great Gatsby for the first time yesturday.

The reason i had never watched The Sixth Sense was due to M.Night Shyamalan, i never believed he was capable of ever making a good movie, I found the movie to be quiet fantastic, im so glad i finally watched it,im definitely going to purchase it for sure.

During the first 10 minutes of The Great Gatsby i found it pretty overwhelming, but once i got a grasp on the style & flow of the movie i really got drawn in, i had read the book several years ago & i absolutely loved it, the movie was no exception, it was amazing from beginning to end, visually it was one of the most beautiful movies i have ever seen.

@Creation watch Unbreakable if you want good Shyamalan. The only other one of his films that isn't infuriating.

The Interview (2014, Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen) - 7.5/10
    Gone Girl (2014, David Fincher) - 8.5/10

      Wild 2014
      ★★★★ Rewatched 23 Dec, 2014

      nextprojection.com/2014/09/29/viff-golden-era-buzzard-wild-reviews/

To embrace the chaos and uncontrollable nature of life can be revolutionary. This is no better expressed than in Wild’s intimate portrayal of a woman’s journey towards healing. Cheryl Strayed, depicted admirably by Reese Witherspoon in one of the rawest performances of her career, hikes through the Pacific Crest as a manner of challenging her integrity. A metaphor for overcoming her baggage, completing the hike provides a much needed respite for her to learn to accept and respect herself. The film thereby illustrates self-discovery as a form of revelation.

As the story develops, flashbacks inform the viewer of Cheryl’s past: from a complex relationship with her mother to a difficult period of grieving, Cheryl’s highs and lows are captured in intimate montages of life, music, and dream. As the film progresses, these flashbacks begin to blend with images, associations and referents throughout her past. Thoughts and dreams become indistinguishable as Cheryl’s memories are fluidly weaved in and out of her mind, presumably as she contemplates her life during the hike. Having eventually understood what her mother meant, Cheryl discovers how to let go of her past and live a life without regrets, without a fixation on the past, and without pain.

      82/100
