Yeah the only reason why It got so much hype is because of the cast in it

Yea exactly. It has a solid ensemble cast and it has the makings for a good movie, but in the end it felt so formulaic and cookie cutter.

True! Definitely prefer 'small' crime movies over those over the top ones

Just watched Peanut Butter Falcon - charming and heartfelt. Shia is excellent and it’s a loving tribute to Mark Twain and the modern south.

The Host - not as good as Parasite obviously but still entertaining

Jurassic Park - gave this another watch after a few years. I actually watched this in theaters as a wee lad way back when. It mostly holds up. I mean, it’s essentially a kids movie (as opposed to a g rated fluff about and for kids). It’s paced like a rollercoaster, dialogue is all exposition etc. CGI holds up best in limited doses or when coupled w puppetry. Here’s a fun theory I had in my head - Dr Grant is a low grade Indiana Jones right. You have the hat ffs, swapping archaeology for paleontology, similar hangups with family and such. It’s the same character even down to the fact Indiana always got involved in the supernatural. I prefer to think of this as an Indiana sequel than that last piece of s---. Anyway-

True Grit: another rewatch. Really enjoyed! Holds up well.

Devils Rain: boring b movie about the occult. However the scene with William Shatner turning into a zombie spawned the Halloween mask. And the scene with John Travolta spawned the worldwide spread of Scientology. Look it up.

    Pretty in Pink

this is a good look at school and dating/relationships. good film that is enjoyable throughout and what made it even better is that i didn't find the ending predictable. i think she chose the right guy. the other guy was cool and obviously cared for her but she didn't seem to like him in a romantic way. also the otis redding scene is awesome. loved this movie and it brightened my day yesterday. :)
