Lot of movement in the UFC rankings as expected.





Also Mousasi passed Machida for the 7 spot. Nicolau only moved up to 13 after beating John Moraga, which was surprising. Moraga only moved down to 9 and Makovsky(6), Reis(7) and Bagautinov(8) all moved up 1. Thought Doo Ho Choi might have jumped Mirsad Bektic as they are usually pretty reactionary to the more recent cards and Tavares is a better win then any Bektic has and ditto for any win Yair Rodriguez has.

He said that he'd need that to do it before he sets the title defense record. Cruz probably walks around 25-30 pounds heavier than DJ out of camp. People don't realize that. At their weightclasses that is massive. We're talking about a small flyweight and a large bantamweight.

Even still, DJ won their stand up exchanges last fight. Cruz had to use his size and hold him down. I think they both had jobs back then too.

I havent seen any comments from him saying he was going up after beating Silva's record, just that he was focused on the record. Cruz is definitely bigger but its probably more of a 20 LB difference, DJ came into one of his fights recently and weighed in at 139 (on one of the Embedded shows) a few days out, so im guessing hes normally around 140-145 and Cruz is probably about 160-165. I mean Conor walks around about 170 and weighed in at 168 for the Diaz fight, hes bigger then Cruz for sure.

Maybe Cruz had gotten to around 170 during his injuries but I don't think he is that big of a dude in general. Still got a significant size advantage on him but I don't see DJ as a small FLW.

I don't really care what DJ wants to do but I can't pretend to be all that jazzed about him defending against Reis and then a TUF winner. Benavidez 3 or maybe Scoggins is the last fights I'm interested in seeing him in at FLW.

I think it's a bad look if Dodson is fighting for the BW belt before he goes up. If DJ is interested in ever becoming a PPV draw he might want to think about BW. If he lost to Cruz and then came back to FLW he wouldn't really be that hurt as he was never a draw to begin with + he already has the loss to Cruz.

He brought the record defense up partly in response to people suggesting that fight. I think we saw in their first fight how much stronger Cruz is despite Mighty Mouse being an athletic freak. Cruz dwarfs him in arm reach, leg reach, and has a good 5 inches on him standing. Twenty pounds is a big deal when you're fighting at 125.

He is running out of challengers. Can't lie. It's a newer division in the sport. I think they could possibly snipe some talent from ONE. The thing is, we think everybody is unbeatable until they aren't and new guys pop up all the time. If expansion into China really is a thing, they could populate the lighter divisions more easily.

Poaching from ONE FC i don't think is an option as they don't give out contracts with UFC out clauses. They also tend to lock up there prospects who have high upside to long term deals. For instance Angela Lee, who the UFC would love to get their hands on but won't be able to.

Anyways Urijah Faber vs Jimmie Rivera added to UFC 203. Decent chance Rivera retires Faber, the way he looked against Cruz. Didn't think he would be taking that type of fight after the Cruz loss. Guess that rules out Jimmie for the MSG card.

Siyar Bahadurzada out of UFC 201 fight with Jorge Masvidal, Ross Pearson will move up to WW replace him. Also Dong Hyun Kim is out of 202 fight with Neil Magny, Lorenz Larkin will replace him.

Guy who KO'd him Denis Golstov should have been in the UFC yesterday. But there are probably about 15 Russian fighters i could say the same thing about. Hopefully the new ownership realizes the hotbed they are missing out on in Russia and they finally get a UFC event there.

I watched some of Golstov's other fights. He looked great even considering the level of competition. The 28 year old Bilyal Makhov is going to the UFC after this Olympic season. Should be a nice prospect at heavyweight.

Made by the makers of Bigger, Stronger, Faster. Honestly seeing Jon so much just made me realise how good a Jon Jones documentary could be. Problem is he'd be fake and make sure he controls the narrative.

We'll probably see some awesome Jones docs in a few years tho (kinda like the Tyson ones).

Brock popped for a test in June. UFC is the only major sports org with real (targeted, unannounced) drug testing and yet casuals probably think it's the dirtiest sport in existence.
