Dec 18, 2015 i just sorta felt like the dialogue between ren and solo during the confrontation was purposefully vague. (what did he need to do? etc) we see him stab solo and drop him, but star wars LOVES the melodramatic bait and switches. (luke flaling not rly dying, obi wan becoming part of the force and returning etc)... its such a rehashed franchise, and i feel like if/when ren becomes good, having solo be dead dead would be a bridge too far in terms of how the series approaches morality
Dec 18, 2015 I never really looked at it that deep, that's true. Leia felt him disappear when he passed though, so there's no telling. I can't put in to words how disappointed I am with the Ren character though. Aside from being the 'villain' I want want to slap most in any Star Wars series, he's terribly predictable. Yo one thing I had to ask, did Finn die or was he recovering when Rey left to find Luke?
Dec 18, 2015 hes def recovering. dude is being set up as the "rogue coward" han solo type whos also a (interracial! oh star warsss) love interest to rey
Dec 18, 2015 hahah. both these are dope reads: http://www.vulture.com/2015/12/lets-discuss-the-ending-of-the-force-awakens.html http://www.vulture.com/2015/12/who-is-rey-in-force-awakens-an-investigation.html feast
Dec 18, 2015 f--- man it was so awesome. im still trying to digest everything. the new trio of heroes they set up are great, everyone has their own personality and ability and they all had great performances Spoiler Seeing Han die was sad as f--- but Kylo is a great new character and probably my favorite one introduced. Really interested to see how he progresses. The ending was great because it makes you want instant answers. Luke looked cool as f--- as the old man Jedi and will definitely be important to Rey in the next movie overall I really enjoyed it, definitely need to get another viewing to help process everything that happened more. great start to the new trilogy.
Dec 18, 2015 lmao no I was just f---ing around, there was actually no one dressed up where I went, pretty surprising
Dec 18, 2015 there was one dude near me cuddling with his girlfriend and they fell asleep in the middle of the movie
Dec 18, 2015 Spoiler that hit me in the feels. that sad scream followed by that angry shooting and s---. f---. then seeing him fly the millennium falcon by himself
Dec 18, 2015 Spoiler I wanna rewatch the original trilogy but I don't think I'll be able to cause to cause too many feels Think about it, Chewy probably helped raise Ben too and I was watching some old scenes from ESB and you see Chewy hugging Han after he finds him and it's just like oh man they were so close and Chewy got to see Han be happy and have a family and why'd it have to end like this
Dec 19, 2015 Third best movie of the franchise. 1. Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Force Awakens It's definitely a rehash of A New Hope, but that was their focus. It's basically a rehash, disguised as a sequel. They wanted to play it safe for the first of the trilogy, and go back to the roots. This is much better than the prequels, and it's definitely better than Return of the Jedi (which was kind of a rehash too, with the Death Star 2.0) Spoiler All in all, I loved the film, I loved the characters... Kylo Ren was great in the first half, and what people don't realize is, he's not done training, He's SUPPOSED to be unpredictable and unstable. That was the point of the character. He is not Darth Vader, where he is flawless and in control of himself. I feel like Kylo is going to be redeemed, but then turn to the Dark Side again. And I think Rey is either Luke's daughter or Kylo's sister. However, everything I read, pointed towards being Luke's daughter. One of the disappointing things about the film was the fact that they didn't expand on the Knight of Ren and how they destroyed Luke's Jedi Academy, kidnapped Kylo, and brainwashed him. The mask of Kylo Ren, is supposedly for the leader of the Knights of Ren. And Rey was supposedly a student at Luke's Academy. I didn't care about the Starkiller Base... IDK... Just seemed predictable, but I get why they did it. They could've just made it about Kylo kidnapping Rey and making the escape... But whatever... lol. I understood why they did it... I just hope they stop with the super weapons and focus more on different atmospheric dog fights, space battles or ground battles Finn was disappointing to me. They made it seem that Finn was going to be the one to explain everything with the first order. I'm hoping the next movie had a flashback to his past, and maybe shows him not fitting in with the Stormtroopers. But, idk, I just felt he was one of the characters that was rushed. All in all, I have to remember this is a new TRILOGY, and they're taking great care of the characters. Also, just remember, Kylo was injured prior to fighting Finn and Rey. He was shot by Chewy and was bleeding a ton. Also, he wasn't fully trained, as Snoke said. But MAN, I loved the fact that Star Wars felt real again to me. It was grounded. The fight scenes were intense. The best scene was Rey reversing the mind tricks on Kylo, and her grabbing the light saber. I got f---ing chills at both parts. And I got chills seeing Luke. Han was my favorite character, and I honestly liked his death scene. Him grabbing Kylo's face? Loved it. Loved how they made Luke and Jedi's seem like a myth. That was absolutely brilliant. BB-8 was great. I liked Finn's interaction with him on the Falcon. Han was great too. I loved Finn saying "We'll use the Force" and Han going "That's not how it works" lol Loved the Han and Leia stuff too, and C3PO greeting Han and stepping in front of Leia lol
Dec 19, 2015 Just came back from seeing this. I honestly enjoyed this movie although it felt sort of rushed. Han's death literally made me close to crying.
