Pretty brave of him if it does happen, still sort of hoping Asensio gets it but we'll see. It's been a weird summer for us lol

Come on man, he doesn't deserve to be on the list. He didn't do much in 2018. Don't be biased and be like the rest of these fools on the internet that don't watch football regularly. Even MoSalah doesn't deserve to be in the top 3 for FIFA Best. Should have been Griezmann or Mbappe.

Are you trolling? How are you going to accuse me of being bias while quoting a post that contains a tweet showing Messi leading in every major statistical category in la Liga lol.

"La Liga" (which btw mostly against mediocre teams) you said it yourself... other than that? Champions League? Disappointment. World Cup? even worse... :jordan:
These stats don't mean s---, and I'm certain they don't mean s--- to Messi himself especially after the disappointing world cup he had.

I think if somebody could ask Messi, he'd probably say that he doesn't belong there this year.

P.S Argentina will be better off without him. (Not entirely his fault that this will be the case) This is coming from an Argentina supporter.

Hate that we have international break after a f---ing wc just months ago. Netherlands gonna get that work today @Michael Myers 3.0

All jokes aside the team sheet looks strong, nice mix of experience, players entering peak years and the Ajax kids hopefully acclimate quickly

Yessir I'll be watching Germany-France, used to never look forward to the international breaks but this will make it more worthwhile. Both teams coming out with strong line-ups

La Liga is a top 3 league in the world lol. We can nitpick teams all day long, that gets us no where. Why are we conflating team performance with individual performance here? Just because your team doesn’t win CL or WC doesn’t mean you’re ineligible for a best player of the year award. You’re making nonsensical arguments here that don’t even deserve to be entertained. Statistics are a representation of how a player performs. Dismissing them makes you irrational.

Salah did less than Messi domestically, internationally, and personal preformance and was in the top 3

We all just hold messi to higher standards than everyone else

Except it does make a massive impression if a player leaves a moment captured in time, mind you I'm someone that's hopped aboard & supported the use of xG & xGChains when it was starting out but football being reduced to purely numbers can never paint a full picture. I personally would have put Messi over Salah just off the golden boot conquest, but that WC & Roma game still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Don't mind me tho, I stopped giving a s--- about these glorified individual awards ceremonies years ago since all it does is cater to 2 fanboy bases. Can't wait for this duopoly to finally end

I'm a La Liga fan myself btw, but I'm just stating what I have been seeing throughout 2018.

I hope Modric ends up snatching this one as well and the Ballon D'or too, so the cycle of CR7-Messi comes to a closure. Modric is one of the few players that deserve the honor of doing this, especially after an outstanding 2018 with RM and obviously the Croatian national team. Top notch, high class & unique midfielder.
