Does someone have a good breakdown of this album because I understand where he was going with the metaphorical poem and how he summed it up in the end. But I don't see that theme being woven throughout the entire album from song to song. It's probably there I just don't see it. I also want to know how the artwork correlates with the theme from song to song cause I think its deep af.

what @LasiK said makes perfect sense...unlike other artists always bitching about labels, Kendrick clearly had no restrictions placed on him creatively when making this album.

the final results, for lasik, are probably too experimental/weird/etc so he wishes they had placed some constraints on him...

I can see why people like it so much, but it's just not for me. There's a couple of songs that I really like, but I don't really see myself listening to the album front to back.

thank god they didnt restrict his creative control...god forbid we want to hear the artist actual product...if i want to hear someone being controlled like a puppet i would listen to marshall

I haven't looked deeply into the poem and everything, but I get the feeling that the whole album is like a musical representation of the poem as he slowly says more and more of the poem throughout the album until the last track when he actually says it in full.

Also, the poem starts off with "I remember you was conflicted. Misusing your influence. Sometimes I did the same" and the first few tracks definitely come across as more "cocky" then the later tracks.
The poem then goes onto say "Abusing my power full of resentment. Resentment that turned into a deep depression. Found myself screaming in a hotel room." right before going into "u" which is definitely a depressed song and sounds like it could be him screaming at himself in a hotel room.

That's all I've got for now, I'll have to go into it more later but I definitely feel like the tracks are directly related to lines of the poem.
