If Kendrick was assassinated tonight and they planted cocaine in his car, I think TPAB would be his best album, he'd be remembered for GKMC, but my favorite album of his would be S80

Do you think Kendrick, Drake and Kanye are playing it too safe on Twitter these days with the no promo attempt. Just one tweet and an album link. I think Cole really put in work on his social media and interacted with the fans and I think that's part of what generated more sales for him. They'd reach so many more listeners if they actually promoted their hard work.

Ar my first listen, I thought it sounded really weird, but putting the his voice into context, I realized how well he executed it. As soon as as I unterstood it, that s--- really got me emotional:mjcry:
In the end, the song wouldn't have been as credible and well executed without the cyring/drunk voice. It's in fact really important.

After a few years of listening to K. Dot, I'm still impressed about how different his voices and flows sound and how K. Dot knows to perfectly implement them. :banderas:

I love it. I'm a one of my personal favorites, for sure. I'm gonna have to disagree about its importance. I fee likes it's such a necessary moment of relief after "u." It definitely feels like one of the few songs that could be "filler" at first, I guess, but at the same time, pretty much every song has a reason for being on here.

But what is that reason? I understand why it was placed after u, but I'm missing it's importance in the narrative.

Thing is I still don't get why the dude felt the need to go at me anyway. If he writes for XXL and others he's doing things with his own life why tear down someone else who has their own thing going. It's not like I even came on this forum to flex or talk about the fact that I make music. I'm here as a Kendrick fan. I've never even mentioned my work with other artists until I started being accused of fake followers. It only bothers me because here in Australia I put in years of hard work and passion into getting my music out, radio, gigs, videos, label meetings etc. I've invested my money in music in ONLY legitimate ways that I saw to be beneficial creation wise, production, mixing, mastering, features, home studio. Last thing I'm interested in is fake Twitter followers or being labelled as a Twitter rapper. Heh. I'm over it. I'm just a hip hop fan who enjoys making music I ain't out there fronting. You must be used to arguing with @WPG doe @captain awesome I read something about you two lol.

    A$AP Rocky on TPAB

I mentioned Kendrick's album, To p---- a Butterfly, which everyone's talking about right now. What do you think about it?

I didn't really get a chance to really listen to it yet. When I listened to it I was with the fellas chilling and smoking and listening through a laptop. I like it. It was a bit jazzy as opposed to his aesthetic from the last album, which had more versatility. I kinda feel like it was one mood with this one. I really need to give it a good listen and come back to it because I skimmed through it. But the production is amazing and his lyrics is impeccable as usual. And the concept alone, being black and proud? I'm all for it.

It sucks how so many people catch their first listen of an album in terrible ways where they can't really soak it in or comprehend the project before they speak on it. Like I would be mad if I put in the work Kendrick put in on this album, for his homie Rocky to listen to it through a laptop for the first time. I'd call him like my dude, please. Buy a copy to your iPhone/iTunes and listen to it in your beats by dre on the road when you get time to yourself. You my homie I want you to hear this right.

this album is a lot to absorb, much more so than his previous ones. i feel like kendrick is trying to be too complicated on this album. i think songs work better when they are simple and straight forward. the funny thing is....in general i don't think kendrick tries too be too complicated, i just think it's an issue on THIS album. good kid, mad city is much, much more straight forward and easier to follow. it flows from track to track a lot better too.

that's one of the reasons blacker the berry is one of my favorite songs on this album. it's a lot more straight forward and to the point. and he's obviously out to send a very powerful message by what he said in the song. it kinda caught me off guard the first time i heard it, but i liked it.

Just because the narrative is easier to pick up on, doesn't mean it's better. And this isn't that complicated either when it's all said and done. Just presented in a less linear and straightforward manner

Also TPAB "flows from track to track" easily as well as GKMC. I don't get how you could say it doesn't?

Agreed, when i first heard this album i was worried it would turn out like lupe's T&Y, where no matter how much i listened i wouldnt be able to completely decode the album, but every listen i figured out slightly more and im sure i mostly understand it now, it really isnt that complicated, just requires a few listens...
