Why is everyone over looking how good the verses on momma/the song in general are?

The "west west west" part is one if my favorite isolated moments on the album lol

If you guys need more writers I would be willing... I'm actually a Communications major w/ a minor in Journalism and I was the editor for my high school's newspaper for a few years. I can write about anything too. I think it's a great idea to have a podcast/vlog type thing as well.

325,000 is impressive, but first week sales are becoming irrelevant.

TPAB was streamed 30+ million times on Spotify this week. How do you quantify that? Number of streams (unique or not) will be the standard very soon.

great write up, disagree with a good amount of the criticsm about the songwriting though.

and especially "the closest thing to a lucid narrative on To p---- a Butterfly is a conversation with a homeless guy who turns out to be Jesus" lol

It's kind of an entrenched, dismissive review

    Term-X relevant.

Hopefully he doesn't just vanish off the face of earth now, like Q did with his last album. We need another BET Cypher/Control Verse/dope af feature.

I thought it was extremely well written (but thats kind of a given with doc zeus), but, as i said, i didnt agree with it all.

I honestly need someone to sit down with me and explain why the production is choatic? I understand its overwhelming when you listen to the album at once, but for me, its more engrossing than anything? Idk, it's definitely not "chaotic" in the negative connotation that the review implies.

And the fact that the album's sounds are derivative shouldn't be as big of a fault as its presented here...like, the criticisms in that regard seem like they're in response to fan's reactions and the people calling this avant-garde, or something radically new, rather than what's actually presented on the album.

The production at hand, regardless of what it pulls from, feels layered, and intricate, and guides the album along at a pretty measured and deliberate pace. The sound of the album also seems to have great flexibility -- it feels like it's own entity, that morphs throughout the tape as it pulls in various influences, while still complimenting kendrick and his eccentricities.

i do agree that some tracks concept's are weak, but they're not intrusive either.

maybe that's where the difference between GKMC and TPAB lies...even if a song is "lesser" on TPAB, as of now, it's not like it takes me out of the experience like real or compton would

People like what they like. There's no such thing as a good or bad song. Quality is subjective.

Edit: I don't enjoy TPAB as much as most of you

also, framing GKMC as some sort of "masterpiece" when it suffers in parts from worse iterations of the same flaws he's pointing out on TPAB, is just weird to me
