If The Roots had released this album no one would be talking about it.

That's not so much a statement about the quality of the album, so much as how stupid I think a lot of the reaction to it has been.

one of the stans had some weird suicidal thread that eventually derailed into a GOAT spongebob moments discussion. :westbrook:

I laughed so hard at one of the videos, I had to change my avy after 5 months :westbrook3:

No doubt sequencing is important, but i think critics of the album are performing mental gymnastics themselves. like, i dont disagree with the observations themselves but many of the conclusions feel kinda forced, or something.

to me, a thinking person can figuratively pick apart any album -- white album, illmatic, whatever -- and use characteristics of the work against it. someone could negatively review Blonde on Blonde and say "Dylan is the quintessential New York hipster—what was he doing in Nashville? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever." this post sounds a lil moot, so i hope my point is coming across

I'm still not sure what to think about this album. I have to listen to it more, that's for sure. The only song I really loved at first listen is f---ing King Kunta. Classic.

i don't know, you're dismissing the notion that the writer's points might, you know, be valid--that the sequencing totally derails an already interminable record.

I like how genuinely aggressive it is also side the rest of the tracks. Seems likes its him coming to terms with himself finally, hence you ain't gotta lie being next

Like I said in the past, I don't listen to TBTB by itsef, but 100% look froward to it in the album

Okay, and what about all the, you know, "probably valid points" that people have made in favor of the sequencing that you've dissmised?

Okay so story time. I ventured out to the grand Canyon Sunday morning. Made pit stops along the way; Columbus Ohio, Indianapolis, St. Louis, got a bomb a--- bacon cheese burger in elk city, Oklahoma, and other minor stops along the way. We swapped driving duties along the way and i got on Sxn80 i think monday morning in the am to find a link and the one that got provided me couldn't download. I was cryin. The album wasn't on the play store at that time. We got to the Grand Canyon I wanna say Wednesday around 3-4pm local time. s--- was flames.

    This was our view.

We both waited until this moment to buy the album. Finished downloading and we both pressed play simultaneously.

Best. Music. Experience. Of. My. Life.

When King Kunta came on we both looked at each other in shock:wow::wow:

    These Walls.:wow5::wow5:

    u:dead:

Alright :king:Probably my fav atm if i had to choose)

    Momma:sad2:

Watching the sun set, at the GC, having someone with you listening to the same album for the first time (of this magnitude) at the same time, but also separately, and completely zoning out to everything around us made this, TPAB, the greatest music spectacle ever. Its the best album i've ever heard. Yeah its only been 2 days, but how i heard it, it was magical fam.

Ever song stood out, every song has a memory, every song has a distinct view of what i saw at each particular time.

I wasn't here getting hype with ya'll, but i was there in spirit:banderas:
