As much as I loved Coles first 3 mixtapes, they aren't classics lol.... I mean just imagining those mixtapes being bunched with projects like Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, The Eminem Show, The College Dropout etc. doesn't look right at all lol

You pretty much nailed it. I've been a Cole fan since his mixtapes days and literally he's shown minimal growth and it's really turned me off from him. I mean the fact that Wet Dreamz was from a recording session for one of his mixtapes (or at least that's what I read) and yet here he is slapping it on his 3rd studio album says it all. It's like he's scared to venture out of his comfort zone or something.

Yeah that gets out of hand lol in general I hate comparing any new releases to monuments like the ones you listed for instance. I'm trying to avoid using "I relate heavily to this" since that can cloud objectivity and whatnot, FNL brings back a ton of nostalgia for instance & FHD came out just as I finished college. Different vibes and time setting with hip-hop essentials for sure.

but TPAB is easily better than any cole project
well if my review counts, Rashida Jones is sitting a comfortable 4/5 at least if i remember correctly haha

but but he's singing now! his albums have concepts man! like, BS was about sins you see, and FHD actually tells the tells the very complex story of his journey from being a relatively privileged suburban kid to a relatively privileged college student to a relatively privileged (in the sense that he gets a lot of leeway from his fans) rapper!

just check rap genius Jan 28th is actually his birthday!!

Heres my input into the cole and kenny debate.

Firstly fhd sucks. Had no replay or production value. A few good songs on it, but overall, its a piece of s---.

Secondly, tpab >>>>>>>>>>anything cole has done.

    That is all.

FNL is a classic, it's a shame that s--- wasn't his debut album. Outside of that, kendricks discog >>> coles Discog. Also, gkmc and tpab >> FNL. Cole is where he is because of his relatability, a lot of his s--- is very simple but people relate to it :manny: Everyone in the Cole section knows kendrick is "better" but a lot of them prefer Cole.

So yes I'm still quite confident in my assertion that this is a good album but not a truly great one

The Cole hate is kinda unnecessary though. The guys about to go platinum off an album with zero features and he dropped it with zero promo. Big Sean and kendrick both followed suit and used his promo tactic and had great first weeks. Cole sold out madison square and staples center in a day. His music falls short of the goat kendrick but some of the s--- he's doing is really impressive :idk:
