Literally every rap artist has bragged about being the best at some point. I don't put much emphasis on it and neither should you. Hip-hop is a very bragadocious genre, artist making wild claims is nothing new. As far as Drake advancing, I think he has. He's gone from being a corny ring-tone rapper to someone who makes enjoyable braggadocios rap music.
