so everyone else on the staff is a stan? cause I definitely don't want a stan reviewing it either

you being the opposite of a stan isn't any better than a stan if we being real

just wanna see a fair review

A somewhat unbiased writer should review them. You've shown in the past a clear distaste for Drake.

It's different for sure. His sound has matured and he's obviously improved a lot, even though he hasn't exceeded some of his classics like Marvin's Room & Trust Issues. Him & PND seem to be onto something, so I'm really excited to hear what he's got in store for Views.

i think drake is a bad artist and a corny human being, but if i was incapable of writing thorough, objective reviews i wouldn't be where i am

You don't think he's good/great, fine. Don't think he's deserving of the spotlight he gets? That's cool too. But he's definitely not a 'bad' artist.

i don't know, man. he's good at what he does. but i think what he does is a pretty anonymous, cynical way to make art.

this is part of a much longer conversation, but: when you listen to drake, isn't it hard to shake the feeling that every syllable of every song has been pored over not just by a room of writers, but by PR experts and focus groups? doesn't he feel engineered for this era more than he feels, just, of this era? it's easy to see with the hotline bling video (or with hotline bling itself) or in how he snaps up whatever slang or flows are hot at the moment. he's not the first person to do that, but at least when jay was pulling from up-and-comers--before he retired at least--he was folding them into something unique. drake reads to me as a soulless collection of pieces that exist only for click-throughs and ad dollars.

i hesitate to say "soulless" because it's such a loaded term, but i think you know what i mean.

parts of it, yeah. but even then--he jacked the hot sound wholesale and struggled without it.

yeah, im kinda with you on that. Drake has always kind of felt fake/ manufactured.

Though it doesnt stop me from playing a bunch of his songs, every once and a while he has a song that just really clicks with me
