Jan 26, 2015 so what? relapse was done in early 2008. he can still do his old flow, just chose not to somehow.
Jan 26, 2015 Lol. And apparently you would rather listen to We Made You and Crack A Bottle? Yea Recovery had LTWYL as a pop single to help sell albums, just like all of his albums did (LTWYL was the most successful single of his career by the way). That song aside, Recovery had BY FAR the best content, production, features, flow, and delivery since his comeback. It was and still is the best thing he's done since 8 Mile. Now if you prefer listening to Relapse's accents or MMLP2's tales if taking s----s at McDonalds over classic rock beats then hey, good for you man.
Jan 26, 2015 lol @ you belittling Relapse's accents and MMLP2's rock beats as if Recovery is some sort of work of art, while it's also littered with the corniest punchlines Eminem has ever written (I think there are literally over a hundred), horrible production and a few TERRIBLE hooks. Yes LTWYL was a great commercial single, but artistically there was nothing interesting about it. I saw Eminem at a festival and the only people singing along to LTWYL were awkward fraternity type guys wearing baseball caps and 15-17 year old girls. Awful song imo, I don't care it was the most successful single of his career. Justin Bieber's Baby was also really successful, maybe Eminem should collaborate with him next? Fact of the matter is, MMLP2 was below average, Relapse was below average, and Recovery was just about average in terms of Eminem material. How can you say production was good? Off the top of my head, beats like Talkin 2 Myself, On Fire, You're Never Over, Not Afraid, Won't Back Down, Cinderella Man, 25 to Life, Almost Famous (lol I think these are almost all songs) all suffer from extreme suckage. Relapse's production is the best of the mentioned albums by far. Features? Are you f---ing kidding me lol. Pink, Kobe, Lil Wayne and Rihanna? Righttt.. As for flow and delivery, listening to Recovery loud will ruin your eardrums due to the constant out of place, forced yelling. Irrespective of whether it is better compared to Relapse or MMLP2, it's still s---.
Jan 26, 2015 ^Well you at least acknowledged that Recovery is "average" while Relapse and MMLP2 are "below average" meaning Recovery is the best of the 3, which is the point I was trying to make. As far as features he really hasn't had many on his recent albums, but Wayne's feature on No Love was the best one since his comeback. Kendrick's Love Game feature was complete s---. And as far as production goes, I actually loved Recovery's production. Em working with new producers for a change was a breath of fresh air and motivated him in my opinion. Em has always acted too goofy and never worked well over Dre beats imo (at least not for the past 15 years) and the Rick Rubin production on MMLP2 was an embarrassment. To make a long story short: I know Recovery isn't a classic masterpiece like his first 3 albums were, but it's definitely the best thing we've gotten from him since.
Dec 17, 2015 i wanna bump this just because everything in this article is so true.. It represents how i feel about this trash album exactly
Dec 17, 2015 when you write 3 8 syllable schemes in 3 different characters including a segment of a verse chronicling your discography as you became the fourth best selling male solo artist of all time and release it on a tape promoting one of the most respected labels in hip hop you can tell me what does and doesn't deserve praise
Dec 17, 2015 Lol he's an artist, I expect that from him. calm down. And going by your backwards logic I'll praise every single one of his songs because they sold a lot and because of the rhymes. Get a grip.
Dec 17, 2015 Can you please explain to me that part where he's supposedly talking about his career in metaphors? I never understood that.
Dec 17, 2015 v1 shady v2 em v3 marshall and I know you can count Last time I tried to pull off a dramatic stunt as drastic I f---ing crashed my hovercraft After I strapped the duffel bag to my back and stuck the massive punching bag in it An elastic bungee strap, proper plaster, a thumb tack and a piece of plastic bubble wrap Went spastic and f---ing snapped, jumped and splashed in a puddle of battery acid Stumbled back, recovered, backflipped and landed on a gymnastic tumble mat there's a metaphor there for each album
Dec 17, 2015 "Mathers' great talent—his 180-degree ear for how everything can be made to rhyme with everything else, how chains of these rhyming lines can be erected into dizzying towers—has officially devolved into a tic. His verses denature all sense of pronunciation and meter and natural speech rhythm; you could probably read this review as one long Eminem verse. " I hate to say it but this is so spot on Eminem could turn the review into a huge verse and I wouldn't even be surprised lmao
