Season 1 thoughts:
- Great season. Almost on par with Breaking Bad's first season. Something to think about: Many of us binge watched BB's first season and watched BCS week-to-week. Totally different viewing experiences which skew comparisons between the two seasons. I remember falling asleep during the BB Gray Matter episode.
- Anyone else over the music montages that are apart of every episode? They're starting to seem like filler.
- Surprised they only hinted at "Saul" a few times all season. My dad is watching BCS without having watched BB first, and he didn't understand who Saul is or why Saul was in the title.
- Kevin Costner reference was gold. Belize made me happy. With the appearance of Tuco in the first episode, many thought the show would use BB references as a crutch, but it's really been the perfect amount.
- Jimmy's breakdown at the nursing home was one of the most cringeworthy and well acted scenes in BB/BCS history. Reminded me of Walter going on his rant at the assembly after the plane crash.
- Finale was good. The penultimate episode often contains the climax, with the finale telling the resolution. Game of Thrones does this every season (I always feel 'meh' at the end of a GoT season). The finale also wrapped up the Jimmy story nicely, in case BCS wasn't renewed for another season (not sure if this was the intention, it was renewed pretty early). I do think the final scene was a little cheesy.
- The BCS story is still slowly unraveling. There is so much Mike backstory left to tell (the murders, Gus?). What will be Chuck and Kim's fate? Nacho will be back (hopefully Tuco too). Let's not forget the black & white future (where's Jesse?) and possible BB overlap timelines. Honestly, I could see this show lasting 5-6 seasons. I would have never guessed that before season 1.
- Besides Mad Men, BCS is my favorite show at the moment. Many questioned whether Better Call Saul would taint the Breaking Bad experience; I think it only added to the masterpiece.

I can't understand how anyone who watched all of BB didn't like BCS. It's literally Breaking Bad 1.5. -

Fire episode as usual.
- Mike & Lydia. If you're gonna have a character in only one scene during an episode, this is how you capitalize on that scene. Lydia was unbearable by the time she entered Walt's life, but it's amazing to see how she acts when she still has some comfort to enjoy as she obviously trusts Gus completely. Love when she tells Mike it's the first time she's done this... "I don't know what you do, but Mr. Fring must obviously thing they're very good at it."
- Jimmy is Saul now. He's been shedding his old skin since he made his brother look like a lunatic in court but there is no more skin to shed. He slowly but surely ostracized an old woman until her crew abandoned her all in a plan to have her settle. How raw is that? You saw all those boxes of shoes? The man was prepared! Then he injects some s--- into Bingo Balls to make them more magnetic. In another life, Jimmy could've been someone.
- Kim.... Man, Kim, wtf? You're doing nothing to improve the stereotypes surrounding women's skills behind the wheel. My take on what happened: She is already burning the candle at both ends. In a previous episode, before the meeting w/ Mesa Verde, she set a timer in her car to catch some zzz's first. The time jump in that scene was identical to the one from last night. She was already exhausted, but after practicing her pitch, she gets silent.. She's wondering what Jimmy has done to be so sure that Sand Piper is about to settle. She's well aware at this point of the lengths that he'll go to in order to survive, and the mystery of his methods obviously worries her. That's when she zones out, and her Eclipse loses a shoving match with a f---ing boulder. If she would've made it past that rock, she wouldn't have survived.
- Oh Nacho, you fool, did you think Hector would die the first time? No no no, poisoning old b------s takes time! I know it's not poisoning, but Hector may have been experiencing the placebo effect last night as he's oblivious to his nitro pills being swapped for duds. Even if Nacho hadn't taken them, Hector's on a path of destruction. Cursing the entire cartel when they say that he's gonna have to continue working with Gus... I did feel bad for Nacho at the end. Hopefully his father doesn't do anything stupid to make him an orphan. Hector murders people for doing good deeds so there's no telling what he does to those who defy him.
- Chuck. I hated this dumb MFer until he went full lunatic in the hearing. My sympathy kicked in after that. He's obviously batshit crazy. I think it's tied to Jimmy passing the bar since everything they talk about places his first incident around the same time Jimmy became a lawyer. If so, that's very s-----y of Chuck. But to carry on with a fake disease for all those years? d--- bro. Anyway, Howard is smart to attempt the ultimatum approach - either take this other job where you're not f---in' our firm up or we'll push you out. Too bad his adversary just so happens to be the best attorney on his team. Plus Chuck has electricity now, Howard, you dapper b----. Chuck could pop a few tylenols and hop online if need be and destroy you via technology in the mid-2000's.
Next episode is titled "Lantern" and all I can think of is that picture of the lantern on top of the newspaper. I'm thinkin' Chuck's gonna end up burning down his crib. Who knows... -

First two seasons of Breaking Bad were not slow at all. In comparison to the 3 later seasons? Sure, but it still sets the bar pretty d--- high.
I felt Breaking Bad was MUCH better than the first two seasons of Better Call Saul, even though I love the show.

Kinda rooting for Chuck now. IDK how Gilligan did it, but he's managed to get me to like Chuck. I had a weird satisfaction when he said "Imagine being my enemy" to Howard.
And I don't even dislike Howard, but that was boss.
I used to be so indifferent about Nacho, but he's quickly became one of my favorite characters from both shows. I felt awful for him when he talked to his dad.
