I agree with this. However I was just stating that in my relatively small amount of time on here thus far I've noticed a lot of people look down on MMLP2 and throw it sometimes below the likes of Recovery and Relapse, moreso than HHS or TR did. I really disagree with that notion, tbh, I feel like MMLP2 is the first true album we got from Eminem since the good ol' days, ya know? And to see some peeps on here say it isn't as good as Recovery or Relapse is mindblowing to me.

That being said, I agree that Relapse is well put together. Skits, production, all of that is knocked out of the park. The album content and sound itself just completely puts me off and I think it was an awful decision to release as a comeback album. Bad choice Em, bad.

My ratings (generalized to give you a shape of how I feel about the albums)

    MMLP2 80/100
    Recovery 70/100
    Relapse 65/100
    Encore 40/100

Like seriously i don't get you guys.

Mocking Bird is a great track. You get to hear more in depth what is was like for him before fame and also after he blew up while he's talking to his daughter. I always felt like it was an honest and touching song. You can feel that struggle.

I remember back one year when daddy had no money
Mommy wrapped the Christmas presents up
And stuck 'em under the tree and said some of 'em were from me
    'Cause daddy couldn't buy 'em
I'll never forget that Christmas I sat up the whole night crying
'Cause daddy felt like a bum, see daddy had a job
But his job was to keep the food on the table for you and mom
And at the time every house that we lived in
Either kept getting broken into and robbed
Or shot up on the block and your mom was saving money for you in a jar
Tryna start a piggy bank for you so you could go to college
Almost had a thousand dollars 'til someone broke in and stole it
And I know it hurt so bad it broke your mamma's heart

Like for real, how is that not great?

Well in comparison, I feel like you are underrating Going Through Changes.

It's a gripping in-depth look at the truly emotional side of Eminem's drug addiction, hiatus, Proof, and the reflection it had on his life, music, and those he held dear to him.

    I can't give a pass to Encore.

I feel like half of the album is an absolute joke (and not like a parody type joke, an actual JOKE in quality) and the other half is decent, but highly overrated due to the contrast in it's other side.

Eminem's old flow, voice, style, and mannerisms (what little are still prevalent) isn't enough to pull the album out of the gutter to me. Just my opinion.

I hold Encore so high because I liked the concept of a "retirement album" per say, and how it's highs outweigh a good portion of the material post-hiatus

Love You More, Spend Some Time, Crazy In Love, Like Toy Soldiers, We As Americans, Encore, Mockingbird, Never Enough, Yellow Brick Road >>>

    Thank you again!

I wish I could elaborate more, but I just never did agree with this ideology. Those songs you mentioned? They're good. But I strongly believe the fact that they're on the same album with absolute trash like My 1st Single, Big Weenie, Rainman, etc. etc. inclines people to hold them higher than they should.

For me, the best songs on post-hiatus albums are wayyy better than most of those Encore songs you listed.

    Agree to disagree I suppose

I've always been a fan of the mellow sad stuff, so that's probably why I like those songs more

Where would Going Through Changes, Deja Vu, So Far..., Rhyme or Reason, Bad Guy fall in your ranking of Eminem songs?

Just wondering because those are a few post-hiatus tracks that I hold very highly.

His voice is just too monotonic for me to rate it that highly. But you could say the same about Deja Vu, it's a great track. He openly raps about his drug addiction giving us an incite into what his life and addiction was like at that time. Also the first half to the second verse:

Maybe just a nice cold brew what's a beer
That's the devil in my ear I been sober a f---ing year
And that f---er still talks to me he is all I can f---ing hear
Marshall, come on, we'll watch the game it's the cowboys and buccaneers.
And maybe if I just drink half I'll be half buzzed for half of the time
Who's that mastermind behind that little line?
With that kind of rational man I got half a mind
To have another half of glass of wine sound acinine
    Ya I know
But I never had no problem with alcohol

Deja Vu is easily top ten, sometimes I even consider it top five on days that I'm really enjoying

Going Through Changes is great.. Top 20 Material

So far.. is a funny song. But I don't really listen to it often. Probably within the 60-70's

Rhyme Or Reason is in the 40's, the sample is amazing

    Bad Guy is top 25

I feel like I think higher of So Far... than most people, even those who enjoy MMLP2. When I first heard it, it was one of the few post-hiatus tracks that gave me that feeling that I was hearing something other than the regular Eminem track, ya know? When I was bumping the track for the first time and that sample kicked in, I immediately pinned it to the Joe Walsh song (which I of course had heard all my life) and I was in awe that here Eminem is in 2013, giving me something that, at least to me, was truly genius and artistic. Something different. And all around the execution was just flawless to me. It felt like the 'callback' type soound that MMLP2 should've leaned toward.

I like when he samples his older tracks in the song

The bridges are cool, love the elevator reference in the end

Yeah, it felt like a true callback, a true return to the past where his entire career comes full circle. I imagine that it was the optimum sound and concept that MMLP2 should've been.

It was akin to MMLP, and referenced it-- and at the same time made light of Eminem's age and the fact that MMLP was more than a decade old while crafting it's own sound, too.

I just can't help but think how those relapse era songs would have been great if it wasn't for the accent. Was just listening to Buffalo Bill and was imagining it in Eminem's pre-hiatus voice without the accent. It would have been great. That goes for most of the songs on Relapse. I just wish he had approached them differently. Some of those beats are dope.

He should have done more tracks like Be Careful What You Wish For. Great song with normal voice and flow. No accents, no yelling just vintage Em.
