David Burd, better known by his stage name Lil Dicky, is an American rapper and comedian. He came to prominence with the YouTube release of the music video to his song "Ex-Boyfriend", which went viral with more than 1 million views in 24 hours.

Burd had been working on his songs and music videos for two years before he began releasing them as part of his debut mixtape So Hard in April 2013.

Once a week for 5 straight months, Burd released a new song or music video. Following the release of 32 songs and 15 music videos, Burd launched a Kickstarter, stating, "I've officially run out of money... In a nutshell, you are funding phase two of my rap career." The month-long crowdfunding period began on November 20, 2013, with the goal of raising $70,000 in order to enable Lil Dicky to create and produce more music, music videos, and go touring. The Kickstarter well exceeded its target, raising $113,000. Lil Dicky held his first live concert at TLA in Philadelphia on February 19, 2014. Burd has signed with Pop-Up, the management arm of creative music agency Jingle Punks. He plans "on having two concurrent careers going on at the same time, as a rapper, and as a comedian/actor/writer."

As Lil Dicky's popularity spread, even celebrities and sports superstars took notice. Kevin Durant tweeted on 9/19/14:

Noisey: I heard that at your Irving Plaza show in New York you said, “Make some noise if you’re white!” and the response was overwhelming.
Lil Dicky: Yeah, I mean there’s a reason I asked that. I go and do white dude antics, and I acknowledge the entire room is full of white men, then I do a song called “White Dude.”

Talk about specifically “White Dude.” Something about it in the back of mind makes me go “hmm.”"

He's a great artist, actually. Looking forward to this album.
His flow is probably one of the best around right now, and his lyrics remain relatable and interesting. He has some great puns too, this one from Sky Hooks stands out:
"Got a 2nd to the 10th talking alphabet,
Lil D only breaking bad b------s like I'm Malcom's dad"

@WPG The message is on the end of the receiver and you're in the minority on this one. Funny how nobody has accused Dicky of sexism regarding White Dude. That's what half the song is about.

dunno how any person with critical thinking skills doesn't find the whole schtick pretty racist. that doesn't necessarily mean you can't like it. but denying that is pretty "ugh these white dudes"
