Don't call this a come back - I've been here for YEARS.

Inspired by the "Hip Hop Essential's" thread (shouts to @Street Prophet), I plan on bringing forth albums that are seldom brought up in Hip Hop discussions but need to be. I'm going to stray away from the obvious classics and drop some albums that are lesser known. Old and New. I'll aim to drop a minimum of 1 album a week.

If you're about negativity - don't comment. Simple.

Take this as a lesson - and I'm the MFer teacher here...
Go to my profile and go to the Pastebin link. that will contain links to all albums I post
    Code:
Intelligent Hoodlum (Tragedy Khadafi) - Intelligent Hoodlum (1990)
Soulstice - North By Northwest: Solid Ground (2005)
Diamond District - In The Ruff (2009)

Intelligent Hoodlum (Tragedy Khadafi) - Intelligent Hoodlum

Who knows what happened to this album? My theory is it got lost between the other classic albums that dropped in 1990. Nas has often credited Tragedy Khadafi as one of his hometown heroes - and listening to this album really explains why. It's probably one of the most fun boom-bap albums of all time. The album, which was overseen and produced by Marley Marl & Large Professor, has a vintage late 80s/ early 90s New York sound with some funky drum beats and street conscious lyricism.

As far as debut albums, this could potentially hang with some of the best - unfortunately, Tragedy hasn't made anything that has remotely interested me since and has his fair share of legal trouble (selling drugs at 38 just to get by.. hehhhhh)

    Enjoy

Glad something came of my thread! It didn't take off how I wanted it too, and most answers were the same.

Soulstice - North By Northwest: Solid Ground

I remember when I first heard Soulstice - probably back in early 2005. This album was out in it's 2003 original form and it was a poorly mixed, scrappy album from a rapper that showed unlimited potential. I was just peaking in my underground/backpacker phase, so with certain members of Rap Music Forums hyping Soulstice up to be one of the best Alternative rappers I'd never heard of, I was ALL over that s---.

The re-release was absolute pleasure to my ears. The Chicago emcee had a whole arsenal of flows and styles that worked incredibly well with the boom-bap/choppy soul production that was provided by the likes of a young Oddisee and Shuko.

If you're partial to alternative boombap Hip Hop, this album is a must.

    Enjoy

It's certainly not the polished style we've become accustomed to; but it shows a great understanding of the beginnings of his career. These beats are some of the oldest I've ever come across by him.

    Thanks. Appreciated it.

That's good, the earliest project that I've listened to is from 2010; is Soulstice in MMG as well?

    Fixed. My bad.

No, I'm not sure what he's doing these days. He released a few albums/ep's since - but I haven't listened to them.
