Aug 23, 2020 I used to use this and S80 as my go to for anything music, movies, and random talk but awhile ago I got hooked on reddit because it was more active and had communities based on specific things I liked. It's nice to have hundreds of people actively posting comments and threads Reddit's a great place to k--- time but one thing that I caught on to fast is that I hardly ever read the comments because of the layout. It was so messy which is understandable so no one stood out it was hard reading a full conversation between just two people etc. unless it's a small sub Reddit I doubt it could ever have true standout posters like a JMG so that's the only advantage S80 has.
Aug 23, 2020 yeah reddit is a big kid on the block but it has severe limitations in terms of layout, but also substance. alot of the 'active' communities are so so mid. this is better, stick around ayy
Aug 23, 2020 that's why I can't get you a pizza hut giftcard cuz I know that's the only reason you're still here
Aug 23, 2020 That’s right. Plus @skip thinks I’m a fascist (I am) so gotta stick around to see where that takes me.
Aug 23, 2020 Coli is almost as dead as this, leakthis is a--- because its full of juice wrld and --- stans, eminem stans s--- but >, ktt2 is ok but ton of boring a--- users, reddit is reddit
Aug 23, 2020 I mean I think we’d all love for it to be more alive here, but at the same time like said above I like the environment and feel of a small community like this. Everyone here has some mutual respect for one another here even when we “beef” and creative relationships and friendships are made here. I’ve made real life friends here and that doesn’t happen much on bigger platforms. Plus this forum/group of people has impacted the culture and major artists music/careers. All I know is, I’ve been a daily user/member of forums since 04. Was around for all the old forums leading up to this, I just wish I didn’t wait so long to sign up to this one. But even being officially a member to s80 for 4 years now I can say this place is the most home I’ve felt at out of all the forums I’ve been on. This is the first place I check every day when I reach for my phone. I enjoy living life offline but when I’m on, it’s here. We all talk smack and “beef” but I wouldn’t trade it for another forum. We do gotta get the creative section poppin more though.
Aug 23, 2020 Because if you want a constant stream of surface level observations u can just sign up for twitter and check the @s below a rappers post. There’s something to be said for having a community just big enough to find dissenting voices but not so big u have to engage with randoms who may not be worth ur time
Aug 23, 2020 also communities where u have to set ur phone down for at least half an hour to wait for replies encourage the kind of people who go outside and have lives to stick around instead of ADD riddled pre teens (ktt) or grown men who’ve gotten laid a negative number of times (Reddit)
Aug 23, 2020 established members getting burnt out always seemed to coincide with jumps in randos so ngl even tho we’ve had better primes I prefer this to, like, the week after tpab dropped for instance edit doesn’t mean we shouldn’t draw ppl in it’s just that our shtick seems to be having the community sort of naturally vet and weed out the lame ones and embrace the handful of funny ones. See ydb and the ReGects or Cain w the ktt hype beasts
