What a perfect combination of over-the-top comedy and reality mixed together. D.G. is a f---in' genius. He masters the art of story and dialogue in such a bizarre way. I've seen the phrase "Louie with black people" used to describe this show and that's a pretty accurate description IMO. The end really gave me chills, tbh. I hope we eventually explore Earn's back story and find out what happened to put him in this position. I'm guessing Al and Van both know his living situation since they both offered to let him stay there. But, the final scene... with Earn walking through ATL listening Andre and just chillin' in a storage unit counting the little bit of money he kept for himself.... I loved that s---.

I also thought Al felt paranoid cause something related to the shooting in the pilot was about to go down. LOLOL @ old dude just running out and the cops gunning him down and destroying Earn's jacket in the process. The fact that I laughed at that, and it shouldn't be funny at all says a lot. Can't wait for next season. And now, I will list a random list of my favorite quotes from this episode.

Does anyone know where I can find a DL link for Atlanta S01E08, preferably in .AVI or .MP4. That's been the problem so far.

Also, when that old Lady talks about the play she wrote/directed.

"My play, 'With Tail Between Legs', I wrote and directed it. It all takes place at a strip club. Two g--- members hold a Pastor, a d--- dealer, and a pregnant teen hostage in the middle of HURRICANE KATRINA!"

The way I took the Black Bieber bit was that they were trying to blatantly highlight how the media and people don't have a problem with Bieber being a prick but have a problem with someone like Chris Brown being a prick. They made him Black because there's no way he would get that type of treatment irl if he was Black. The reporter sort of sums it up when she tells Paper Boi that rappers are supposed to be the assholes not Bieber (when she dances off I died).

A solid 16 months after the network announced its collaboration with Community star Donald Glover, FX has ordered a pilot for Atlanta, a new comedy series about the city’s rap scene. According to the official press release:

FX Networks has ordered the comedy series pilot Atlanta created by and starring award-winning actor and writer Donald Glover (Community, 30 Rock), it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions.

Glover serves as Executive Producer, along with Paul Simms (Girls, Flight of the Conchords, NewsRadio), and Dianne McGunigle of Schiff Company. The pilot will be produced by FX Productions.

Irony being the wonderful thing that it is, Glover’s character sort of mirrors his own bouncy relationship with Community. You know, that popular(ly canceled) series about community college students?

Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy. Glover will play “Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks,” a college drop-out who reconnects with his long buried ambition and sets out to seize the life he imagined for himself when his estranged cousin becomes a sudden star.

Just as the press release started making the rounds, David Itzkoff of the New York Times broke the news on Twitter.
