Dec 28, 2014 Consensus number 1 since 2010 vs consensus number 2. This is pretty close for me, but which album do you prefer and why.
Dec 28, 2014 I think MBDFT got by far a much better production, but i just can't get into Kanye's lyrics. He got his moments but also some really questionable lyrics. Some features where great but i don't want to rate the album because i just can't get into the record. I respect Kanye's work (Not the person he is a jackass lmao) but i don't know... GKMC for me was a straight 10/10 record when i first heard it, so my vote goes for my boy Kendrick EDIT: This thread needs a poll
Dec 28, 2014 Both execute vastly different concepts perfectly. In one hand, you have a suicidal Kanye who had to prove himself, and went to the length of secluding himself in Hawaii, working on the album non-stop, and bringing decadent grandiose on levels which have never been seen before. The album is vastly introspective. Each feature was pushed to bring the best, and every song is fine tuned perfectly. In the other hand, you have Kendrick, who set out to impress the world with his major label debut. His concepts clearer, his storytelling literal. His album is outrospective, using his experiences in Compton to reflect on his disquietudes with society and the gangbanging lifestyle. The album is nearly flawless, but ends with a lackluster feature in the closers which should have been a West Coast b-----r for decades to come. Kanyes album is technically better, but the albums are polar opposites. Introspection vs. Outrospection. Celebrity vs. Poverty. Arrogance vs. Conciousness. Death vs. Life. That's why these albums work. The thematic narratives that make these albums unfold like feature films, rather than a collection of singles, which is increasingly the norm these days. In terms of influence, Kanye is no stranger to changing the genre, and does it with almost every release. That being said, while MBDTF definitely influenced the music around the time, it served to revitalize kanyes career while GKMC served to revitalize the genre. Two years later, and the influence is undeniable in albums such as My Krazy Life and Under Pressure. Kanye wins, but slightly.
Dec 28, 2014 troll thread i c u hasman i'd report u if u weren't, um, the owner of the site edit: i made this post before i even saw the poll options. I was just referring to the fact that MBDTF >>>>>>>> GKMC. now f--- i may have to vote for FHD to fit in with this site
Dec 28, 2014 shady xv was u? hahaha also is that emoji pointing down and laughing? because I've been waiting to strategically use it in an edit of a post to laugh at someone below me. well actually i did that once already but no one picked up on it, smh
Dec 28, 2014 Word Shady XV was me I'll add some more emojis. I was going to rework some of them and figure out how to make them retina friendly (they show up blurry on smart phones) so when I do I'll add new ones too.
Jan 6, 2015 just the fact that xv, simply his latest label mixtape, is being compared to kanye's magnum opus, on the biggest eminem hate site online, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Jan 6, 2015 when eminem drop a new album you will see HUGE fanbase in here..most of them dont post right now since usually they all do around eminem releases
