May 23, 2016 I could see that. I just find that having all of these major events happening together detracts from them all. I was on the fence at first, but it worked emotionally. That was possibly the hardest hitting death since Ned Stark and it had no reason to be.
May 23, 2016 d---. you missed it. -the fact that george planned this from the beginning (or at least we're meant to believe he did) -hodor fulfilling his purpose -hodor, the most innocent guy in the show, sacrificed -time travel loop being closed -we got a backstory, told in a clever way lol how was that rushed? you literally can't drag out hodor's death any longer -- it was beautiful.

May 23, 2016 i think they've been handling it pretty well so far. they've recently said that the end is in sight for the show and this season, more than any other, has been giving off that vibe For sure. cc: @Slyk Im not saying it didn't work emotionally -- it definitely did. poor guys whole life was basically in service to Bran's greater purpose. You could see the compassion on Bran's face when he realized that. Still think it was a bit corny lolol. May 23, 2016 not to take away from any of those deaths, but those were more whirlwind/shocker deaths than an emotional cry out for the character themselves.. viper we cared for the situation, but not necessarily the viper himself; rob/catelyn we cared due to a wide range of reasons, and maybe we actually cared about the character a bit, but they weren't as innocent as to where you didn't feel like it was a casualty of the war in process i duno...for me, i think it comes back to his innocence. i get if you disagree though -- this is very opinionated.

May 23, 2016 i think you misread that -- i said "purpose", not promise. and yeah, it unfolded quickly, but it was in play for a real real long time (and we were all too blind to see it until it happened). wasn't rushed. was planned masterfully.

May 23, 2016 speak for yourself m8 I cared more for the Viper than I ever did Hodor. Man the viper almost became my favorite character multiple times Nah i definitely dont disagree about Hodor's innocence -- there's nothing to disagree with there. It just didn't mean as much to me as, say, the Viper getting revenge for his sister or Catelyn never seeing her kids again (NEVER seeing arya at all before she died, never repairing her relationship with Jon etc).
May 23, 2016 wow i read that like 50x and read "promise" each time Im gonna avoid calling it "planned masterfully" when it honestly could've been something they came up with on the spot to help Bran escape and give Hodor a solid backstory lol. If they dragged it out for longer and had younger Hodor do some important s--- or something then maybe.
