Proof was just VERY hit or miss, not much middle ground. Being from Michigan, I could see where home bias plays a role. He's a local legend, therefore we automatically gravitate towards him almost blindly. Similar to Esham, another local hit or miss artist.

I always think it's funny when people forget Proof murdered somebody for no reason... Kinda makes him seem like an a------.

I don't think he's bad. But he's extremely overrated. I hate when people say "Eminem and Proof are the only good rappers in D12" or "Proof is easily the best in D12 besides Em" I honestly don't think he's a Top 3 member of the group. That would go to Eminem, Swift, and Kuniva. I'd say Proof is barely ahead of Porter for the #4 spot. Bizarre's Hanni Cap Circus album is way better than Proof's album.

He was the gel that held the group together though. He was their leader. And he was the #1 reason why Em helped them so much. It's blatantly obvious that Em hasn't given a s--- about the group since Proof's death.

Obviously Em stole the show, but every member of D12 held their own and performed great on Devil's Night. Even Bizarre's dark shock value material worked great on that album. It was a d--- near flawless perfectly executed album in my opinion. D12 World on the other hand was a fail. Em tried to step back and let the rest of the group (especially Porter) carry the album and it didn't work very well. D12 is at their best when Eminem provides the production and hook and the other members only have to contribute one verse each.

he had some good/great verses from time to time, nothing more. also a couple of great songs on his solo projects like Forgive Me and Kurt Cobain, and that freestyle he did with Em in the car.

I always thought Proof was decent & the second best next to Eminem on D12....he went in on 40oz though.
