Tupac. It doesn't matter if it's 1996 and I'm 10 or it's 2015 and I'm 29.... the guy's music has always hit me on a personal level. He's the only artist whose music can literally change my mood regardless of whatever situation I'm in. No Star Nizzy.
Also, the fact that he did everything he did before at age 25 is just.... f--- it's tough for me to really fathom that.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Yeezy:
1. One of the most consistent discographies in rap history
2. Nearly flawless album arrangement/cohesion on said discography
3. Kanyeisms
4. Puts on GOAT live shows
5. Successfully switches his style for nearly every album
6. The variety of artists he's worked with from lots of different genres: Tony Williams, Chief Keef, Justin Vernon, Paul McCartney, Wu-Tang, Elton John, Daft Punk, etc.
7. Regardless of whether or not he did a certain sound first (who cares if it's original as long as it's good), he's been a leader in ushering in new trends in rap
8. Helped other artists make classics with his production (Be & The Blueprint specifically)
9. He got God featured on his last album -

Another thing adding to the Tupac argument, all of his music that came out when he was alive was very good to great, he didn't have a bad album imo. Some of his posthumous stuff isn't as good but that's not his fault. He's also influenced more rappers than probably anybody else and made an impact outside of his music as well. - May 7, 2025

My personal choice is Marshall.
Besides the points that @Koolo made, no other artist had as much of an impact on me growing up as much as he did.The Doctor, CSW and Mikey like this.
