LMAO. No. The outro can be interpreted as a lot of things, but being a filler is not one of them. Runaway is arguably his most emotional song, and the first 6 minutes isn't even the main reason why. In the beginning of the outro, he says "I'm gonna be honest" and then the auto-tune drowns out what he's actually saying. Why? Some people interpret it as him crying. Some see it as him reading his suicide note. Others interpret it as him apologizing for the Taylor Swift incident. For whatever purpose he originally had for it , it was never a "filler". Like everything else on the album, he had a specific vision. For this one, he didn't give a specific meaning to it because he wanted us to interpret it in whatever we saw fit

Backseat Freestyle is GOAT (I've seen Kendrick perform it twice now and it's nuts) and so is this mashup:

Compton is the perfect ending for an album, its a much better outro than Who Will Survive in America & Lost in the world. You can really see the credits rolling when you listen to that song.

Gkmc is a masterpiece, it really is one of the best albums in a long time.

And I agree that the album is much better than MBDTF. not every day a rapper comes out with an album as thematically cohesive and story driven as GKMC. Dude told specific stories that are very relatable to those who feel pressured by the environment.

MBDTF has great individual songs. However, the album as a whole isn't as cohesive as GKMC thematically or stylistically. I also found Kendrick's style more refined, emotional, and powerful on GKMC, especially when you look at the narrative told through the album.

The beats are also much better on GKMC imo while they sound overproduced on MBDTF. Those who know history of hip-hop will notice how Kendrick's backing tracks have seamlessly integrated late 80s/early 90s production touchstones with modern atmospheres, timelegiving the album a ss, ever-classic sound. To the average listener, the songs just sound great and have hooks galore in them. So, as music, GKMC nods to the past while forging ahead.

    GKMC; 9.5/10
    MBDTF: 8/10

    Just my honest opinion

GKMC quite easily. MBDTF is a lil bit overproduced, GKMC sounds more "organic"
