MBDTF without a doubt.

The highs are comparable but I think MBDTF has more of them, and it's more consistent. And as hard as GKMC tries to be immersive and build a unique aesthetic, MBDTF does that with ease and without any skits, a clear storyline, etc.

It does it by being f---ing flawless start to finish

GKMC definitely doesn't 'try hard' to do anything, the skits fit.. the story unfolds perfectly, nothing contrived. You said you wanted to replace tracks on GKMC, but by doing that you are replacing the moods and the pivot moments like Real, which are important for the narrative; which is contradictory.

GKMC is the better rap album, MBDTF is beyond that bracket, so it's the better album in that sense.

About what you said about Narsh's post, they do fit the narrative but aren't executed as well as the previous songs. Real and Compton make for a bad ending, or at least significantly worse than the rest of the album.

As you said, it's bad by the standards the album set itself, but not in the grand scheme of things.

MBDTF is a lot more ambitious than GKMC, it's lofty sound takes it beyond Kendrick's album but you could argue the latter is more in-line with the genre and thus the better album to pigeonhole.

GKMC s----s on mbdtf. To me gkmc is the best album of the decade, mbdtf is second, but a distant second imo

As an album trying to tell a story I definitely think GKMC >> MBDTF. However, MBDTF has SO many beautiful moments that just SOUND good. Certain songs in MBDTF are just so good to listen to and so many songs in GKMC just build so much hype. Hard decision, but i would have to say GKMC.

GKMC is a way better record, through and through. That album breathes 80s boombap, 90s nostalgia and 00s melodies. It represents hip-hop culture to a T.
