When from time started, the mood shifted though. things got somber, she started remembering everything she missed about the relationship. recounting regrets and then the good times. by the time the language started she was making out with me.
what i'm trying to say is that drake music is an emotional journey. he took what 808s did and built off of it. rap has come a long way since the early 2000s, and i'm glad that kanye passed the torch to drake as the one to push this genre. i understand the initial disappointment given that it was the follow up to take care - it lacks tracks like crew love and marvin's room. but then it has tracks like hold on, we're going home and pound cake/paris morton music 2.
yes, there's 305 to my city, but i'd listen to that over make me proud 6 out of the 7 days in a week.
this album has only gotten better with time. while the highs on take care are better to me, the album itself is just as good.

Certainly an album that stood the test of time for me. Kinda straightforward and repetitive at times, but he manages to follow TC with a good album and show his personality on most of the tracks, blending rapping and singing and melodies really well, with the help of good beat selection. There are things that could have been better, some lines that sound kinda corny and a tweak here and there (like on Own It which drags a bit longer than it should) and 305 To My City which is really bad (well and Pound Cake is catchy but I wish Jay-Z tried a bit harder, I think). Not on TC's lvl, but definitely a good record to vibe to, with some great tracks. I felt kinda underwhelmed during my first listens, but it has grown on me. -

Great Drake album. Is it as good as Take Care? h--- NO! But easily one of the best releases of 2013. It's got a few low points, but a lot of high points. BULLET TIME for @Koolo
- First off awesome selection of beats
- Drake does an amazing job at keeping songs fresh by moving from rapping to singing
- The Language (no further explanation required)
- He really shines on Tuscan Leather, Started from the Bottom, The Language, Worst Behaviour and Pound Cake
- Connect is a great song to vibe to at night
- Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music are great, although (Jay's verses are meh)
It's not as good as Take Care, but it's not garbage. It was a good release for Drake and I'm looking forward to Views from the 6.pluto✰, DKC, Fire Squad and 2 others like this. -

NWTS so generic, most of the songs had no replay value after the first listen let alone over a year later
Wouldn't nessasarily say any of the songs are bad, just not really a gr8 effort tbhGriff, Koke, Oldboy and 1 other person like this. -

I'm with @Brennan on this one. NWTS might possibly be the most generic release from any artist; let alone Drake.Oldboy, M.I.C. and Old Account like this. - May 1, 2025

For me this album just came at an important time in my life. Album has so many moods and feelings that make it a dope life soundtrack.
The airy production is dope to me and I liked how Drake and 40 kept it moving sonically.
Tuscan Leather is what makes this a great album imo. The way 40 flipped the Whitney Houston to create 3 different beats in one was incredible and too overlooked imo. And Drake lyrically is underrated. He's not the best by any means from a technical standpoint, but his lines carry weight, and I never feel like his bars are wasted. Sometimes his simplest lines hit home for me which makes him so relatable.
