This got me thinking what I'd recommend for a basics crash course by region (taking into account importance and accessibility and also nothing after ~2005 or so so he can keep going based on what he likes in this foundation) @jankland :

    East:
    Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang
Notorious BIG - Ready to Die
    Mobb Deep - The Infamous
    Nas - Illmatic
    Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory

    West:
    N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton
    Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
    Dr. Dre - The Chronic
2Pac - Me Against the World
    E-40 - In a Major Way

    South:
    Scarface - The Diary
    Outkast - Aquemini
    Lil Wayne - Tha Carter
    UGK - Ridin' Dirty
    T.I. - Trap Muzik

Midwest (assuming you've heard all Eminem so not including him):
Kanye West - The College Dropout
    Common - Be
    Lupe Fiasco - The Cool
    Nelly - Country Grammar
Bone Thugz - Creepin on ah Come Up

This is a great idea. I never had the privilege to see the hip hop landscape in this eye as an outsider, would be interesting to know if it influences the outcome of taste.

Idk everyone tries really hard to be a "teenager" so the biggest one is probably billie eilish she has a couple songs that are replayable but they're not all like that this was the first one that came to mind but idk what else people are in to too much I sorta kept to my bubble mostly
