This case could upend the college sports business model, antitrust laws.

So: my question to you - should college athletes be paid?

the tradeoff, some say, is the opportunity of a free education etc. The total athletics revenue reported among all NCAA athletics departments in 2019 was $18.9 billion.

Imo athletes should for sure be able to profit off their name and should probably be entitled to some revenue sharing

I said yes but for a more detailed answer I'll just say you should get paid if you're risking brain damage every week but I have some form of grudge about college athletes cause they get that s--- for free lol

I mean they are the ones playing the actual sport, not some fat, suit wearing, wife cheating MFer in the office, right? So yes, they should get their money.

No. School should be about education, not sports. They should be separate entities.

I don't know enough about how it works right now to say specifics but they should definitely be compensated considering how much money athletics make for schools.

Yes even if it's just a stipend of some sort, they should be paid. They undoubtedly should be able to profit off their name/brand.

Obviously the big stars should be compensated more but everyone should get a piece of sales on their Jersey's. Bigger stars should be able to get endorsement deals to make it more profitable for them. The thing that sucks is that they deserve to get a piece but it will kind of ruin the sport. That's the thing that makes college better than NFL to me is that these guys don't look at it like a business and they just go out and play to win. This will change that. But really whatever gets me a NCAA game to play I'm all for.

Also gonna be tough if you have a Heisman who's making bank and he says f--- doing homework and school in general. Are they going to suspend him? Separate actually getting an education to playing a sport?

yeah. this is why maybe its a profit sharing trust, or something - or % of likeness sales (jerseys) is placed into an account of some sort for once ur tenure is over. to preserve what ur saying and preserve the distinction from professional athletics....

it **is** wild to me - gambling on sports is all but legalized. those old walls (which ended pete rose, or black sox legacies) have cratered . so the idea we need our athletes in a safe box while everyone else profits off them is naive clearly.
