Feb 10, 2015 Just want to point out it's not all that hard to structure a song by point-of-views. It's been done many times. It's definitely a nice concept, but I just don't feel comfortable with that "higher level" stuff.
Feb 10, 2015 I see what you're saying, I would say though that, in song construction, he's on a "higher level" right alongside a lot of other talented songwriters right now. FHD had a few songs similar in structure to this, Kanye's new song is written from his dead mother's perspective. Higher than most, not the highest necessarily. This is par for the course for Kenny though; he's been doing stuff like this conceptually since S80.
Feb 10, 2015 This is the same type of hype "the Jig is up" got and @WPG didnt like it. Whats ur opinion on this dude?
Feb 10, 2015 >I praise kendrick, I'm sucking his d-ck >I critique kendrick, I'm sucking kanye's d-ck people in this thread are on fire
Feb 10, 2015 it was a pretty funny comment though bro. actually lol'd and my wife asked what was funny
Feb 10, 2015 But like I've already made a handful of LEGIT critiques about this song and have gotten nothing in response except people jizzing over the track some more and getting mad at me for not liking it. Also, I'm one of the biggest Kendrick stans on the site and apparently now I just hate on Kendrick because I like Kanye lmao The logic is just
Feb 10, 2015 not disagreeing with you bro. just thought the comment was lol. for what its worth, wait till the hype dies down and see what people say then
Feb 10, 2015 Inb4 people changing their mind because some people don't like it. Not able to listen to it now, hope it's as great as everybody says but the first day songs get overrated a lot
Feb 10, 2015 Im african american. Im african, Im black as the moon. Heritage of a small village, pardon my residence.
Feb 10, 2015 The Civil Rights Act passed the House on February 10, 1964. That's why some people think the album is dropping tomorrow. But I think that's reaching. The actual act wasnt enacted until July 2, which would be a more significant date
Feb 10, 2015 song is gr8 been playing it most of the day. Probs wont check here for feedback much, can tell it will be good reception with a few outbursts from edge-lords that reckon it's s---.
Feb 10, 2015 No need. Here's the gist: I think the song is great for what it is - an aggressive declaration of black pride, mixed with self-reflection. On paper, that sounds great -- but the execution left A LOT to be desired. Any weathered Kendrick fan has met this aggressive delivery before, has seen this intensity from Kendrick numerous times. That alone shouldn't be enough for a long time fan of Kendrick to love this song -- it requires more than just passion. We all know Kendrick's passionate. I need him to witty, clever, and intelligent. This is really none of that -- it's all very on the nose and EXTREMELY straightforward. I actually like the beat/aesthetic/mood/hook/aggression more than Kendrick's actual content or lyrics. Which is never a good thing with Kendrick. That's not what I expect from him. I'm sure this song will fit perfectly in the overall album, and maybe that will make me like it more/look at it in a new light, but as of now, this is way too straightforward for me. The intro/outro are great though. And there are definitely a few good parts in the 1st and 3rd verse as well (heart blacker than an aryan's >>) edit: excuse any typos im slightly drunk
Feb 10, 2015 All I know is Kendrick made history in Black history month...night ya'll..I'm .gonna fall asleep with this on repeat
