I think Eminem was a better rapper during MMLP -- just sounded more sharp. And I like that style better.

TES could arguably be the better album but I don't think it's that clear cut. I don't even think you can take SSLP out of the discussion. They each have their flaws, and are three somewhat distinct styles.

I gravitate more towards TES mostly because of the themes & content. It has a lot of my favorite Em tracks like Sing For The Moment, Saying Goodbye To Hollywood & Till I Collapse. But MMLP has more highs and shows some of his finest artistic/lyricist moments. MMLP for me.

I think TES probably "sounds" the best, it's the more modern sounding of the 3.

Also, TES is more personal than SSLP/MMLP, so it probably gets more of a pass because of that too.

SSLP and MMLP are way more interesting, fun and creative than TES though.

SSLP was so much fun to listen to. Easily his most unpredictable album. Album had everything you want as a hip hop fan. Brilliant.

MMLP was unpredictable too, but in a darker way..

It's not to say TES was bad, I love the album... It just seemed way more tamed and controlled... I thought it was a SAFER album to make.

SSLP and MMLP might've "aged" badly to most of the younger fans, but I don't think they have.

The production isn't modernized, and maybe most don't like the nasally sound of Eminem's delivery on SSLP, but I'd pick a song like Guilty Conscience / 97 Bonnie and Clyde / Brain Damage / As The World Turns over most of TES.

I think people look at the immaturity of SSLP and roll their eyes because of how used to Eminem's immaturity everyone has become. So, I get that it's tiring and boring by now. However, at the time, it was genius.

I just don't think certain albums can be as enjoyed as other albums if you didn't experience them first hand.

It's like listening to Run DMC now, I can understand the impact it had, but can't enjoy the music.

Stan is one of the most brilliant songs of all time. That s--- made MMLP a certified classic. TES is a more enjoyable listen though, and i revisit tracks off TES a lot more than MMLP. :idk:

I used to think the same and TES was my favourite for a long time (I still have my cd), but I've started to appreciate the not-so-polished MMLP more. The sequence of the songs in both albums is kinda random imo, as he jumps from one topic to the other like someone put the songs in shuffle and then added skits. This "craziness" works better for MMLP (and SSLP) I think. They both have a couple of bad songs (The Real Slim Shady and Kim, especially this one is unlistenable for me, and Say What You Say and Obie's part on Drips for TES) but the rest of the songs are all above average. My favourite songs are from TES (Sing For The Moment, Till I Collapse>>) but I'd rather listen to MMLP nowadays.
